Hi Hub and all
I am going to run my 08 ZX 14 on the salt at Bonneville in the BUB SPeed Week late August/early September 2010.
I need to eliminate the 186 mph top speed limiter. I have looked at the Speedo Healer and the Muzzy's Bonnevill Pro, both of which appear to operate by intercepting the signal from the sensor that reads off the four edged trigger bolt and provideds the information to the speedo.
So far as I know no-one has as yet "cracked" the ECU for the 08 and later ZX14. I saw reference to the succesful "cracking" of the 06/07 ZX 14 ECU, with people working to try and figure out how to eliminate the top speed limiter directly in the ECU programing, but don't think that has been accomplished yet either.
But, bottom line, I need to know how the top speed limiter operates. Is it a fuel cut, ignition timing retard, intermittent power cut to the coils, what...?????? Is the initiator of the limiter the speedo signal, combined with gear position sensor, or....???
Thanks
Paul
