How many of you have eliminated the speed restrictor on your ZX14 and made a run with a gps to see what the bike will do with various mods? I mean flat out for over a mile flying start.

17/41 gearing-Speedohealed with GPS-186 or slightly higher(had to back down-ran out of road!!LOL(still had throttle left).Update here-went back to 17/42 gearing-gps'd-haven't run er top yet-but will come clear weather.Gearingcommander says 203 top speed for my setup.I can only hope at this point!!Update-went back to 16/42. I've reached the limiter on both my ZX-12r and my 14. So I guess 186 mph. It was a strange feeling on my 12. It pulled like a freight train to the limiter then it stopped. Very scary at 186 mph. Thought I was going over the front end.

Wasn't me, but a buddy of mine went 196 (or 195, can't remember) on his 07. 18/41 gearing, overcomp'd speedo healer, leo vince system and dyno tune.

150 indicated is my best. If there's any traffic at all you'll catch it and I don't dare go flying by at that speed. It's almost the same as riding 70 mph at a stationary object.

281 KPH as per a zumo 550,this was on the top half of the Radisson hwy in Quebec,the wind was pulling on my knapsack trying to pull me up.The bike was still pulling strong,stock gears, Hindle SMEG and PC

165 GPS the bike was still pulling hard before I ran out of balls. I might have gotten a mental picture of my wife and kids at my close casket funeral also that always tends to slow me down for some reason. I'll take a few Xanax beforehand and try again this summer. LOL

Got it Rook thanks for the update. Its all fun and games until this happens and then its really funny. This happend inside the Smokey Mountains last year we went around a few cars while in traffic and someone called the TN Park Police. They were really nice guys and let us go after checking our license and Insurance. Oh Rook I’ am the Tiki Barber look alike. The 14 is so seriously fast I can get 140 even around here, in between corners. There just aren't any long straight stretches of road near where I live. Well, there are a few, past farms and businesses, not a place to be flying low unless you want to hit a tractor. When I lived in San Jose CA back when I had my 11, I had the 280, and part of those 6 lanes each way was pretty much dead straight for a couple miles, though the elevation went up and down a bit. Several Sunday mornings at sun up I opened the 11 all the way up .... I think the 14 would run out of room fast even there, though.

Looking back at it, if the CHP had seen me, I'd have ended up in jail, no questions asked. Heh.

I take exits faster than I ever when flat out on the banks of Daytona is speed is relative. Yes, I am stupid enough to run 186 is I can hear that wind chime a whole different tune is scary, yeast is pants I have not been there is no place around here to rip the poop in my pants is load up the 100% cotton briefs is a cable pull away.

On my old 12R my land speed record was 279KPH (GPS)…

On my 07 ZX 14 a whopping 245KPH… The 14 is a faster bike but like others I have grown older and if not wiser at least more cautious (i.e. chicken).

Back when I first got my 02 gixxer 1k we went out to the old air force base on the runways and I maxed it out, speedo said 186, not sure how fast it really was but it sure was scary

Had bambi run out in front of me last summer while I was around a buck 35 and climbing. Came so close I felt it brush my leg... puckered so hard I still have a hemroid!!!

Almost got me a turkey one time. I was not going very fast. Came around a corner and there he was.

I pulled an indicated 160 something once, but being -1 on the front it was actually maybe mid-high 140's. I already run at almost 146 mph in the 1/4. When I get some new tires, I'll play a little more. Here is S.E. Florida, there's lots of spots out west where there is nothing but straight roads (very lightly traffic'd too) for miles.

It seems that I outgrew those top end tendancys within the first 6 months of moving down here from NY. On the old XX, I had seen an indicated 192mph with -1 on the front. So, what's that really mean??? Maybe low 170's and slowly gaining at that point.

I love that there is a thread like this one. I love the 14 and the fact that it makes this a subject worth talking about.

It's obvious to me I haven't pushed it nearly as hard as some of you... :)

I did 145 by speedo on my ZX-11 way back when, on my 14 I've only had a chance to get it up to 130 or so again by speedo - but then I've only had the 14 since October of last year and it's in the shop right now.

Would love to find a place to push it a bit more but it's still a blast to play with the high torque between 90 and 110 passing cars like they're standing still.
