I'm not going to push mine anymore like I used to...I know she'll rock out.150 or so is good for me now.Went back to 16/42 gearing-rather have more grunt than top speed at this point."anyone can go fast" I've heard it said.Still don't want to wreck my baby-but she's rock solid at top speeds!!!I'm happy.

Between 305 and 310 KMH indicated on speedo. Still pulling, but what for? Blackbird with nitrous stays with me, zx 12 gets left behind.

Fastest I've gone yet was just over 160. I did it while in a big sweeper on the 395 above Lee Vining.
It was fun but I backed off. Backed off too quickly actually and learned you don't do that. The bike naturally tried to stand up and spooked me for a moment. I'd never gone that fast in my life. Fastest I'd been was approx' 125 on my '79 GS1000. The 14 got to 160 so smoothly and quickly without much effort. I almost didn't glance at the speedo for fear of taking my eyes off the road.
It was a memory I won't forget and I still don't know why I decided to open it up that much in a sweeper. Fastest I'd been on it before that was about 140 on a straight road.

I hit a rabbit at 120mph a few years ago on my FJ12. Two-up and at night. The rabbit 'exploded', and the bikes' underside got covered in blood. All I felt was a slight bump. The forks easily absorbed the shock.

Was on a hired CBR400 in Phuket. Circuiting the island, I came round a corner at about 60mph leaned right over, and met an elephant bimbling across the road. That got interesting. I missed its back legs by inches, but slowed down a bit after that!

Had a go on a runway early last year on my '14. It felt like I was doing about 150-160mph the way the bike was still accelerating so strongly, but when I glanced down to confirm it, the needle was at 185 and about to go off the clock! Hit 185 (indicated) before shutting off and braking for my life. (It was an 1800 metre runway.) The high speed isn't scary, I can't get enough of that, It's the braking in a hurry from high speed! You begin to think you're never gonna slow down. To think the racers do it a couple of dozen times each race. Respect.

I got to 122 indicated and said that is it for me. The stupid bike does not seem to know how or when to slow down but would have no problem getting me throwed in jail.

180 indicated day befire yesterday on a long stretch of road with no traffic. Felt even more stable than 30 and for the record a GSXR1K can't hang at that speed.

Sounds like there's no substitute for cubes, heathun. Perhaps the litre sportsbikes don't have the outright power or torque to punch through the air and maintain these speeds as well as the '14 (or the hairybusha)?

Wow, when I started this thread I thought for sure there would those that have modded their bikes and saw over 200 on gps but I guess not. I can tell you when I checked our speedometer it was about 8-10 mph fast at 160 it indicated 170. I installed a speed-o-healer and was able to get to 186 real mph. It wasn't hitting the rev limiter just couldn't go any faster. I am now in the process of doing some more mods with the goal of 200mph on gps. Should know later this week.

170 mph indicated. amazing how effortless it is. i live in a really good place for high speed riding. the "slab" here is long sweeping turns with 1/2 mile stretches of straight deserted divided 4 lane and almost no cops.

ive been considering a gear swap to 18/40 and taking off the extensions for a top speed run. with my bike's power i figure mine should pull to around 205 or so. But, i don't have a stabilizer.. Or tires rated for that speed.. And I'VE turned every bolt on this bike.. So, the thought of my 7 month old baby girl growing up without knowing her daddy is too much to bear.

Slowninja, what kind of power are you making? It takes a whole lot to hit 205. I'll understand if you would rather not share but it would be nice to know what kind of mods.

178 MPH indicated so with speedometer error, I would say an honest 160 MPH.
I just never found a long enough area to run it all the way out.

Anything north of 150MPH is F...ing fast.

Never dyno'd the bike but we're expecting it'll make right at 200

Think about this. At 180 mph you cover 264 feet per second, a football field is (end zone to end zone) is 360 feet. So you cover 3/4 of a football field per second.

I think most modern bows have arrow speeds in the 260 fps range.
