Rear Sets,

Okay blokes, what is the best set of rear sets you can buy for the 14r?
Keep in mind I am a tall brotha on a stretched bike...
Any suggestions?

Happy New Year, WOlf-meister!

I am gonna show my ignorance, and ask, what is the purpose of a rear set?

I know it can adjust and take your pegs farther back, or lower, but and as I understand it, a more forward leaning, agressive position is beneficial by giving you more control of the bike?

I have a problem sometimes with my legs, as they are really long there are times I put my foot down and I clip the pegs. Thought about lowering pegs, maybe a good set might give me a bit of clearance. It's not a problem just an occasional nuisance.

Cycle cat has the most adjustment that in aware of ... But not sure if there made for the 14 next is Sato then Gilles ...
Personally I would go Vortex very well made and easy to get replacement parts.. Also a reasonable price!

Keep in mind some don't work with "abs" models..

200 to 500 bones!!!
It's like they know, that some of us will buy em!
I like the vortex. I don't like the 519.00
The Sato ones are more reasonable.
Decisions...decisions

There is not very precise info on the range of adjustments between the brands. From what I was specs I was able to find online, it seemed that Vortex indeed had the greatest range of adjustability for the ZX-14. That range includes what they call stock height.

From measurements I took, it seemed to me the increase in lean aangle clearance that is gained by Vortex rearsets comes mainly from the shorter footpeg, not as much the max height. It is a very hard thing to measure without tipping the bike on it's side to measure the angle of peg touchdown. A quarter inch more or less that the peg protrudes laterally makes a huge dif in the angle you can lean the bike in a turn. The height (max 3/4" higher than stock) does not matter as much as peg length because you are bringing the tip of the peg down in a turn....the peg is no longer vertical to the ground when you are in a lean...capisce? On that note, my exhaust touches before my pegs which are set at max height and max rearward.

Vortex are easy to replace if you bust one. High quality work great and look appropriately large to match the 14.

As far as weight, Vortex weighs a bit more than the OEM pegs and heel guards. Not much better with Sato, I do not believe. I got Satos for my busa and they are just an ounce or so less in weight than the Votex I have on the 14. If you dremmel out the heel guards on your Vortex they should come up aboutt the same weight as Sato.

Sato is more expensive and looks kinda small on a hyperbike. Not really worth teh extra $$ for Sato IMO.

I've got vortex on mine, they are a nice upgrade for sure. If your goal is to lower your pegs that will most likely result in dragging your pegs while hitting the twisty stuff, I'm not sure if all vortex are the same but my vortex pegs are rigid and don't fold up. I think they would snap off before they would wreck you but you would be going through some pegs fo sho.

Fox we do tend to scrap bits sooner and on less lean on a stretched bike. Good point sir!
Hmm. Thank goodnes Vortex has replacement parts

Johnny I have looked at those a few times, perhaps the lowered pegs are a path too.

these are the ones I bought. just didn't want the expense of and after market rear sets and wanted to go with a custom shift lever. have had them on the bike for a while. Only issue i had was i had was to add locktite to all the bolts. 06- 14 rearsets are the same.

Aftermarket shift and brake levers are also available in anodized finishes. Completes the look and ones I have seen have length and toe adjustment. Pro Bolt makes them. Not cheap but a lot less than complete rearsets.

One thing not mentioned, with stock footpeg bracket, you retain the pivot which will most likely save you from levering over in a severe lean touchdown.....of course that doesn't do anything about your exhaust or fair ing touching down before the peg. The OEM brackets are also very lightweight.

Yeah man and they adjust with 360 degree rotation and fit stock mount. Cycle pirates makes same one but is 4 times the price. But I did buy cycle pirates adjustable brake and shift lever. Here they are mounted

Thanks Rook and Blk Casp!
They look excellent!

Rook I like leaving the oem brackets, as I have CFibre heal guards. So Cycle Pirates and see "pro bolts".

Thnks Gents!
