Holy fuck! I love the rifleman throttle! Wolfs right! I'm on sabbatical. Had to ride north to cool out on some new roads and test her out on some big big sweepers! Anyone google earth the province of BC knows of what I speak! Tight stuff too, but the big ole wayyy out there roads are wicked. The rifleman throttle is addicting in just HOW easy it is to grab WOT. NO GRIP CHANGE NECESSARY EVER! I love it. Requires smoother modulation. But I reverse my first opinion on this. I thank ZX RACER! It's the shit folks. That simple.

Silly question, has anyone done the mod that has heli-bar risers ? Dont think it would make a difference, but thought I would ask ....

Anyone try Avon Grips? According to the website : " Avon's new metric grips also feature a very unique, patent pending, throttle sleeve, that come complete with interchangeable throttle cams, so a single set of grips will have multiple fitments... ". If I understand this correctly you can put the bigger cam of your choice in to get the "rifleman" effect but also new grips and throttle tube. Also depending how many cams are included you could dial in your desired throttle response.
I like the Air Cushioned Grips.
I believe the rifleman is $25, Avon Grips are $20 to $70.

Hey Deri, Semper Fi bro. I like the sound of the Avon system. The rifleman is wicked but requires some fitment by the owner. If ya don't mind snipping off a plastic tab or two, and have a little patience, its worth the time. I like it. I would definitely try that Avon system too. I like the cam variation idea.

:)) hey Grn! Yeah, rode more today, she is definitely more abrupt, in a good kinda aggressive way. I will say, in F-Off on cold tires this morning she slipped hard twice while just pulling away from a stop. :)

@Cara...I had at a few different times WITH the zx14(an 07),and 14R(2012)...(my crashed one)where I mixed and matched helis and genmars. The throttle mod was unaffected....Long as the cables can reach the throttlebodies, and work okay.....the risers won't affect anything.I had to take ALL the slack out of the cables however..and run the adjuster all the way to the stop...clipping off the plastic lock ring at the throttle grip end.So...all said and done...they could not be adjusted any further...thankfully,it was exactly enough without the lock rings;)There was virtually ZERO play in the throttle grip...but it worked just fine....closed all the way.(maybe a few MM's...but that's about it).I could NOT adjust the throttle play(or lack of it)with those rings on there(see below)

You'll most likely need to clip off those lockrings(they're plastic)...just be EXTREMELY careful not snip into the cable housings....it is very easy to snip that and not realize it....sharp wire cutters will work.

If you tighten those top cable adjuster to the maximum amount of free play, at least on Priscilla, I didn't have to do anything but leave them at full slack. No free play. Plenty of twist! :)

Ya...no prob. You MAY need to,or may not...IDK why some would be different...but they are.The housing is different I think on the inside between the model years.????I think even the online instructions mention it....basically...with those on there and the helis/gens I could not adjust enough slack with those on there...had to turn em all the way up as far as they would go on the metal threaded part...it was just enough.

I was talking to a guy at a meet a few weeks back who had fitted something similar to this (not on a 14) which increases throttle 'response' by reducing throttle travel as he has hand and wrist problems after an accident years ago which left him with limited wrist mobility and he finds it useful at the expense of some throttle sensitivity. I can see the benefit in such a situation but I have strong hands/wrists with full articulation so for me the OE throttle setup is no problem and I like the response and control it gives. JMO

The key is to keep an open mind and try it, with this I agree...I think what holds back some folks is we chased mods, been disappointed and then it sat in a box. but for 25 bones what could go wrong with a trial? besides i am anxiously awaiting a prototype cleverly prepared by a close friend and then upon receipt I will post thoughts!
Peace to all!

I HAVE tried it and I didn't like it. The perception that it increases throttle response is only due to the fact that you're opening the throttle wider for a given wrist/twistgrip movement. I can get the same response simply by twisting the OE setup a little further AND keep the fine throttle control when feathering the throttle through the twisties. What the heck, each to his own!

Hey all! I have put something like 1000 hard miles on the rifleman now. I ran a trip up to Vancouver island in BC, can. Wicked roads! Awesome people! I will never ever run this bike without that rifleman throttle in there. In the twisty WOT you get is the aggression you NEED in second gear to be truly fast. I think. My opinion. I was able to feed in throttle and lean harder on TC 1 than I have ever at lean. Feed in and a nice little burn slight slip smooth grip rocket fucking ship. I love it. It give an edge that this bike needed. The light feeling comes easier. Yes, accompanying speeds are a little higher. Gotta watch it on the streets. Found myself doing wayyyy over many times because I love how it feed in hard 3 rd gear POWER. Lean or no lean. With TC OFF it is still for me fine with modulation. Think about it. And when I am cornering at Max lean I do not start FEEDING IN POWER UNTIL I BEGIN TO LEAN THE BIKE UPRIGHT. So as I now begin my feed in on uprighting the chassis, I am just paying more attention to the Initial take up. Once I did it 7 times I had the hang of it and she also gives CRISP throttle response. I can't say enough. It is fun as hell.

You can email him directly at:
Rifleman@hotmail.com

Or, I tell y'all wot, I didn't like the fit and finish, and I radiused the curve for initial take up, less snappy from closed to open throttle. I am making a bunch of mine own. Ya can just shoot rifleman an email, or I should have a batch of mine out to :
Wolfman
Bobby
Nasty
And grn14

In about a week and they can provide feedback. Either way, if ya get the rifleman version just deburr with fine sandpaper before installing so it slides nice.
