just make sure the kawi card has no annual fee to keep open and use it. i got my first bike through hsbc and it helped my credit when i payed it off. it doesn't have an annual fee and creditors like to know that you have available credit. and quit downloading porn... your chances of catching a digital virus will decrease

HAH! Thanks Reeves.

Glad you mentioned the no annual fee. Makes me wonder what else I might not think about that could get me into trouble. If I do it, I might as well just lay all my money down and forget it. Not like I'm going to invest it or anything.

I used the Kawasaki credit card to buy my 12. It's through HSBC Retail Services if I remember right. No fee's, no early payment fee crap. I'd get a monthly bill with a minimum due amount but I'd pay as much as I could, way over the minimum amount, every month. When I traded it for the 14 I think I still owed a little over a thousand on it. I paid it off then without any problem.

Ask if there is a penalty for early payoff. My buddy was told that there wasn't if he paid it within' "X" amount of time, can't remember if he said 6 months or a year, but after "X" there was a penalty if the loan was paid early. He didn't like that and went to his credit union.

Those are some really good OTD prices you're being quoted, Rook. Not gonna tell my buddy!

If someone comes along and buys them before me, then it wasn't meant to be. I still love my 14 a lot more. I haven't experienced it to it's utmost yet. There's still mods to do on it. I don't know if I'm worthy of two bikes even though i have the money now. ?????????? I have a few days before the end of the month and then the price could go up...but it could go down too. All depends on what Kawai wants to do with rebates.

No you'll be fine Rook, just like any other bike, it'll only go as fast as you twist the throttle. I will tell you, the midrange will feel pretty anemic compared to your 14, these are top end oriented motors. If you grab a big handful of throttle in the lower gears though, that bad boy will stand up. It's that short wheelbase talkin to you.

Thanks. All very important info and I appreciate it a great deal. I'm waiting a few days. This is too much stress and I've had enough of that lately. Bikes should be about GOOD stress - excitement, not anxiety. It just feels too impulsive to me because I've been focused on a busa, not a zx10. I like to live for the moment but not at $9000 a crack when something just pops up on my plate. So, we'll see.

Rook, take your time....no need to get in a rush, there'll always be another deal come along. For the immediate future we are in a deflationary spiral so bike prices on the '08s and prior should continue to drop. Newer stuff from Japan will start to go up though ('09s and on) as the dollar continues to weaken against the yen. I will tell you this bro, I was where you are back in March and finally got tired of looking. I'd spent almost a year shopping and was getting a bit stressed out. After you make your deal though, the stress goes away and then it's all fun...remember that. Step back right now, take a deep breath and do some serious soul searching. Is a liter bike really what you want or do you just have to have something new? I understand the Busa thing, wanted one myself but I have to ask myself "will it be any better than what I already have (ZX-14) or do I just want it cause it's different"? I think the liter or even a 600 sport bike will be more useful to you then the Busa...right now at least. You wanted to work on your cornering skills and both those bikes will give you more confidence to push it in the turns than the Busa. The liters are a blast, I'm taking my CBR out after work today...can't wait. OK that is all...Rook are you still with me?

Hey Rook, one more thing, what town are you in? I'll check the internet and see what kinda deals I can find in your area.

Excellent, reassuring advice. I had a hunch the price would at least stay the same (nice to hear some economic indicators though <<can't believe I'm hoping the economy stays in the toilet- LOL)

I'm in Milwaukee, Kruz. I have to try to include that on my avatar square. Appreciate any price search you can do if it's not a lot of trouble for ya.

I've looked at a lot more info about the 10 than i did the 14 and I actually have some sort of idea about what I'm reading now. Cluelessness isn't the problem here. It's more uncertainty brought on by the lack of dual income now. I have a decent pile of money but it's hard to dump a big chunk. Doubly strange because teachers don't get any money in the summer. I'm still at my old job for the summer but it is part time. It is slow and they seem to call me 1 or two days a week.

I spoke about the zx-10 to a sort of GF I've been hanging out with a little. High school sweetheart of mine. She said "Only you know what your responsibilities are but I'd really love to see you on that bike." ...and she knows i want a busa too!!! What could be cooler?? Ya,ya everything is so perfect in the beginning. She's 6' of 120 lbs of sweet and petite and she'd be hell on a busa some day - maybe just a passenger?? Don't think I'm mentioning any of this to the ex.

Rook, call Cedar Creek Motorsports at 1-800-718-6096 in Cedarburg just north of Milwaukee. They have a new '08 ZX-10R in stock in Metallic Diablo Black for $7999.

Drive out should be around $8500 to $8600. It's a steal, we can only dream of prices like that here in Texas. Go buy it and ride the wheels off it this weekend or I'm gonna have Hub bring Bruno and Guido over there to break your arms.

Funny thing, Rook talkin' about gettin' a litre last year is what got me lookin' for one.

Damn, another 4-5 hundred lower. That'll cover break in oil/filter changes and still have money left for new tires. Cedarburg is a real nice little town. I hope Cedar Creek MS is open tomorrow. If not, I'll be checking Monday. Still not ready to jump right in but that price nudges me a little closer. Black is my fav color for the 10 too.

Huh? The dealer I bought the 14 from said anyone selling a 10 for less than $9,350 is loosing money. Imagine that?

Thanks for doing the check for me Kruz. I'll let you know what i find.

Dealer one is out of the running. Couldn't hurt to go back to dealer 2 and see if he'll come down to $8,200.

Ahhhhhgeeeze- I ended up working late today and CCMS closed at 3:00. I couldn't make it out there in time but I called and talked to Jonny. He didn't seem to know the specific bike I was talking about but he said "we should have one." I don't know, maybe it's crated or something - I'd rather not buy a floor model if I don't have to but for these prices, I wouldn't bicker over a few tiny scuffs.

So I'll be out there Monday. Jonny didn't say anything about possible price increase at the start of July but I suppose he will when i ask him to give a signed quote. If he doesn't, I have more time.

The '06 is way better looking, I think.

You have us wondering, Dogo. New bike? Or did your buddy find him an '08? He picked it up yesterday, right?

It's my Buddy's new zx10. I'm waitin' 'til the '09's get cheaper. I love that burnt copper color.

Can't give you a comparison, yet. I don't wanna ride his until he gets it broken in. Not fair to compare when I can beat on mine but still gotta take it easy on his. So far all of know about the '08 is that I'd want new rearsets. The pegs on the '08 are about an inch higher than the ones on my '05. Makes me feel cramped. I'd let my buddy borrow my '05 for a week, (that's what made him want a Kawi) and he likes the ergos of my bike better. He's 5'9" 160. I'm toast if we race.... well unles it's in the twisties!
