Update on those Helis and Genmar combos-Using both-you WON'T need to relocate your brake line junction fitting at the lower fork clamp.Stock fitment will work ok.

the guys who have done the genmar and heli risers together. do you think 2 sets of genmars will work? it'll make the bars a 1/4" higher. i can get genmars alot cheaper plus i want to get as much hight as i can get.
the bars are way too low for my 50 year old wrists back neck ...
thanks

I wanted to avoid the cost, but I've come to conclusion I'm going to get the Convertibars kit. Really like the look, and 4" up and 1" back will do the trick for me. Plus they fill them with vibration damping material and I've got a set of heavy Throttlemeister bar ends waiting.

Of course, a better but more expensive solution is either Convertibars or the LSL bar kit.
I'm going with the LSL bar kit, so I can sit upright. Too old for the tuck anymore. It hurts. But still like the power and speed.

I installed the Genmar rsier blocks, didn't give enough relief for my 55 year old vintage racer body....
Then I bought the LSL bar abck kit http://www.spieglerusa.com/cfm/sbk.cfm
Comes with a full set of longer Spiegler front brake lines, top triple clamp, some brackets, and a Superbike one piece bar. I sent the triple clamp out for black anodizing.
The install was easy, after I figured out how to deal with the "security" screws Kawasaki uses to mount the ignition switch, remove the stock triple tree complete with ignition switch, then remove the security screws witht he triple tree upside down on the workbench....
the LSL kit transformed the bike for me, now a comfortable all day super sport tourer, with a "Laminar Lip" installed on the stock windscreen to lift the air flow a bit. The new bars just clear the tank at full lock either side. I also installed thin dense foam grips, and Manic Salamander solid stainless steel one pound each bar ends, completely killed even the slightest buzz through the bars.
Then I added GIVI V35 removeable bags.....
This is the same bike I will be running in the BUB SpeedWeek LSR on the Salt Flats at Bonneville late August/early September 2010. Talk about versatile!!!!!!! put the stock triple clamp and clip ons back on, take the GIVI bags and mounts off, try and break 200 mph on the salt, then convert back to super sport tourer with hard bags, unbelievable!

Wow, Schnitz (who sells the aux. fan, etc.) has a great stainless brake hose kit for the ZX14 which is double hoses, gets rid of the T-block, and can be ordered in longer lengths.
So I guess I will get the Superbike High bar for my LSL, and improve my front brakes to boot.

You WILL get a set of stainless speigler(which are very good quality)brake lines for the front end Privateer when you order the LSL kit.The block will however remain using the kit lines. But you won't have to move the block any..so that's good.

Ok, but the double stainless lines without the t-block also give the added benefit of better brake feel and response. So I might still do it. Either way, the LSL is going on in February. As is the second fan.
And when I'm done, my 08 will still eat a connie for lunch, even when it has the luggage on it. :)
Blue, do you remember what size the nut is that has to be taken off to get the top clamp off ? And how much torque is on it ?

You are RIGHT on this-it IS a 35 mm.I did this before-bought the wrong one.The manual shows a 25mm steering stem nut.Ya-that's not right.Unless I'm lookin at the wrong piece in the diagram.I replaced my LSL's tonight with my stock bars and my heli/gen risers.Want to get out tomorrow and have a good ride.Sorry about the wrong size nut there.

blue07,I'm getting ready to put my LSL setup on and the instructions say to take the load off the front wheel to put the LSL top clamp on ,what do you do to take the load off the wheels?

Welcome Perrier!I don't remember seeing that instruction. The forks won't move as long as you DO NOT loosen the lower triple clamp.I never lifted the load on the frontend.Just removed the top(stock) triple tree with clipons.I just last night went back to my earlier setup-stock clipons, stock triple tree,helis/genmar combo.Didn't have to unload the frontend.Everything went back on fine. She can't go anywhere with the lower clamps holding her.Enjoy that LSL-great mod!

I got my LSL kit. The security bolts came out of the stock top clamp in under 5 minutes. I just used a small diameter punch and a hammer and tapped them out by holding the punch at an angle and tapping around to turn the bolts. Cake.
Really going to enjoy the relaxed riding position this riding season !
