RE: 20 to 176 mph run on the big Beast

Hi Rook,
You should be able to see it on your smart-phone. I just checked with my Iphone and my wife's Android and they both allowed me to view the video.
I rigged up a stand for my iphone to record the video and it was only a few inches from the speedometer and so the video is a little blurry, but you can plainly see the mph numbers. And to answer your question: no, when I had my stock tires on I ran it up to 186 mph. I'm a little Leary of going much faster than 170 on the Shinko Hookup mainly because it is designed for drag racing not top-end speeds.

I've had the same thought in the past. I've gone as far to ask bg to delete the thread so as to not get the rider in trouble. However, many people wear the same gear and have the same bike. An accusation with video evidence of someone going fast on the same kind of bike is worthless without an admission of guilt. It would take a huge investigation to determine the offender's identity.
Anyways, don't you know most of these vids are just sped up and the speedo set at +100%. Jeeze, man!
I have heard of only one case where a speeder was convicted on his own video evidence and it was accompanied by eye witness accounts (people who complained) and most importantly, the poor schmuck described the escapade in great detail (which matched eyewitness accounts) online. This was considered an admission of guilt in court. He lost his car. He chose to do extremely high speed in a neighborhood. The situation was a huge danger to public safety and I guess it was worth the small effort it took to convict him without being apprehended by police. This took place in Britain, I believe.
Another guy I know of was wearing masks while running through tollways. His car, license plate and masked face was photographed repeatedly. He was mailed tickets totalling thousands of dollars which he never paid and when brought to court, he claimed it was not him driving the vehicle. That simply did not work for him. Busted. Very creative and funny but I guess the judge did not appreciate any of that.
I plan to continue to post vids of people going fast. The real risk is not the rider's camera but possibly someone else's camera.

It's always so cool to see how smooth and how fast that needle goes.
Skewedtotheleft- On a side note, listening to your exhaust I hear a slight "stutter" after you gear down just before you let her rip. The only reason I query/notice is that I have the same stutter around 3500rpm. It does nothing to the power, performance or smooth running of the bike. Mine goes really well to the end of the clock. Just an irritation that I have learnt to live with. Romans tried to help with fuel mapping and as I say got fed up and live with it. I never had it on my gen 1. None the less after hearing your bike my question is have you always had it?
Does anybody else have this sound on theirs?

Holy Shit Batman! The only thing you might need is maybe a quick-shifter--then you should be able to shave off a few hundredths of a second during each shift. That Shinko was really hooking considering you said the ground was a little damp.

Hell he'd shave tenths off. Those are very sloppy shifts.

maverick1441,
I'll admit that the last two shifts were rather sloppy, but the first 3 were not--and I will also admit that I wound 2nd gear a little too tight.
I have less than 4k miles on my bike, so I'll admit that I'm still in the learning phase.

Yikes! I hope this forum is not one of those that dishes out more negative comments than positive. SkewedToTheLeft, I went back and viewed your video one more time and I agree with you, "the last two shifts were rather sloppy, but the first 3 were not--and I will also admit that I wound 2nd gear a little too tight". You did wind out 2nd a little too tight because you could hear the rev-limiter kick-in a little.
However, I think maverick1441 is being too harsh, e.g., I played basketball in both high school and college, but if you had of compared me to Michael Jordan then my playing would have looked sloppy too.

Hard to worry about shifting when you got such a big smile on your face. I love a nice blast like that.

Skewed took it like a champ. He recognizes a place that needs improvement and will make an effort to improve upon it. All in all I think that's what I'm here for. Constructive criticism can be used for the greater good if your mature enough for it. Keep at it Skewed.
