Chain?
08/29/11 7:11 PM

Guys I'm looking to change my factory chain for a blue chain, the only reason is for looks. Now I also want to know if I should change both sprockets with new factory ones? I'm looking for any more power no aftermarket sprockets really needed. The chain that I'm looking at was a "driven" brand but there are a few different numbers.......ie 530...etc?

Change sprockets too. Never run used over new or vise-verse. If you were in that desert race with turtles or camels, sure, tie one on and get going. But for street? The fresher the parts, the longer it lasts, the less noise, less whaa-whaa. This is the first thing that happens is a high spot on the new chain; w/old-used sprockets no matter the mileage past [the first 500 miles] is so critical, I didn't know till recently.

116 links. Look up Daido chain. Find DID50ZVM4 in blue or equal strength meaning. Low tensile strength with a cheap blue kind of snap it off and into the engine case it goes. Hopefully out the back and a tow truck home I had to have it in blue knuckles is more like it... WAITING!

Only buy a high strength chain or it will cost you more in the long run when it snaps not if + the cost of a tow home he just wants you to do it right so you don’t get hurt/damage your baby.
