Foot Peg Lowering Kits
12/24/10 11:57 AM

Hello to all. I'm a one year and a half rider. I'm 6'6" tall and have the 09 special edition. Just curious if anyone has Foot Peg Lowering Kits? If they make a difference in comfort, what are the best and cheapest ones to get? Just because I'm tall, I was looking into getting some. Just wanted you smart guys opinion on it.

im 6'3" i have the vortex rearsets ive got them set at stock heighth but moved back and that works for me. i know you can go at least a 1/2" lower with them. cheaper way is buell pegs think they drop 1" lower. think a couple of the guys on here have them maybe they will chime in here.

I had those Buell pegs on, now I am using the Ulysses (Buell) pegs, and like them much better.

I like the Ulysses Footpegs because:

1) they are easier to modify to fit the ZX14 hangers.
2) They are wider (front to back) so you "feel them less" (no other way to explain it).
3) They are wider (out from the hanger) so my big boot fits on them better.

Plus, and probably 4), they are powder coated black, and the black didn't come off at all during the first riding season with them. So they match my bike and ceramic coated exhaust also. Plus I have black anodized heat shields on the exhaust tube where it passes under the footpeg, so my heel doesn't sit on the exhaust tube (due to the lowered peg and close fit of the CT-DUAL exhaust).

Ok check this out scott. I have stock pipes. Just by the look of it, it seems like it wont fit because of them being in the way. Or do I need to change my pipes first?

I had both the kind Scott linked, and the Ulysses version, on a 2008 with stock pipes before I got my CT-DUALS. Even the CT-DUALS, which are tighter fit to the under-frame than stock work fine with both types.

The Ulysses is the stronger version, and it is black, which I think looks better, and more comfortable.

Also, if you google "ZX14 foot peg" you will find all kinds of lowering kits. Stay away from Corbin imho. And still after looking at literally dozens of types, I always come back to modifying a Buell peg to fit.

You must have short legs. Seat down, pegs up, and its now a perfect fit? Short legs. LOL.

See that's what I like about this site. No matter what it is some damn body know something about what you're talking about. Even if its a little bolt on the motor to removing the chain to putting on frame sliders. I really thank you all for all the help cause I don't know much about a bike. But now I'm learning because of you guys. Thank you again.

privateer,

I am looking at getting those Ulysses footpegs. Can you detail what mods I will have to do to it so that it will fit? Just want to make sure I have what I need to do the mod and that I can do it without wasting my money! My left thigh and knee starts burning and hurting after a while when I ride with my boots on. I've been forced to squid ride with my chuck taylors on. Also since this thread is about two years old, does anyone have any better options for lowering / adjusting your foot pegs? I think even taking the rubber off the pegs would help me out.

Just ran across these that look like a good option:

No love for the corbin ones? Only $100 and the levers move with them.

I've read bad stuff about the corbins. Do you have them? If so, whats your experience? Just went to the site and it says that they were redesigned on 9/18/2006. I wonder if that means they addressed the haters. Anyone that has the "updated" kit, please chime in!

No, I have no experience with them but it wouldn't surprise me if they were crap. Corbin is not known for consistency

The corbin kit on my 08 will not fit on the right side of my 2012. I went with Buell Ulyses Pegs from a Harley dealer in Mn. $77.55 +freight of $9.15. Work great, look great. (Stpaulharley.com)

Aww piss, really? I was counting on those. The levers don't move with the pegs on the Buell's though right?

@21744 - So did you like the corbins on your 2008? I have a 2010 so they will fit. Just wondering how you liked them. I'd rather get the corbins and not have to do any grinding and such.

The corbin kit will fit any but the 2012. The exhaust on the right side gets in the way. No problems with the kit on my 08. The only thing you have to do with the Buell Ulyses pegs to make them fit properly is send the next drill size through the mounting hole. I didn't even hold them with a vise. That peg is one of two available. The other is a bit more involved to fit and is half the price. The Corbins on the 08 moved the stock pegs down 1.5 inches and out the thickness of the mounting plates.

The Corbin kit, for the ZX14, came to me with thin powdercoating, already starting to rust through. They wouldn't go on.

I asked to return for a refund, they told me, and this is a quote, "we do not accept returns, period."

I will NEVER give Corbin a single penny again as long as I live.

I have those Murph's Kits lowered pegs on my Concours 14. They fit it perfectly. All I had to do to make the brake pedal work is unbolt the mount, and grind 1/4" off the actuating rod so I could lower the brake pedal enough. Then I had to tweak the spring that pulls the brake light switch plunger so it isn't on all the time.

Works great now. Murph's the man.
