Looks like they nailed it with the 14R
01/26/12 10:12 AM

Every review I have seen has nothing but priase for this new bike. What's more is that Kawi didn't seem to change too much, and still made it significantly better for the street and strip. I don't see the changes made effecting reliability in any way either. CAN"T WAIT to get one!

There could be a recall or two in the wings. The 14 had it's frame recall. Also the Crankshaft bearings which never got recalled but happened on some bikes. The leaky head gasket, too. Don't forget about that. I'm optimistic the 14r will not be any more prone to these problems.

I hope not too. I want a 2013 C14 with the 2012 ZX14 engine in it. Heh.

not really, IMHO. Have you ever seen the recalls on the busa? (not that i brought mine in for a single one) Busas have had their share of spun crankshaft bearings too.

A few potential problems are a part of ownership of a sportbike. Most of us don't have all of the problems and many seem to never have any trouble at all. Not bad for 6 years of production. My Carolla on the other hand, has been in production since 1966. That was the year I was born too. All the bugs should be worked out by now. I expect the Carolla to require only routine maintenance (like me --knock on wood) and it has.

I predict...not ONE single issue with this new bike.Nothing...Nada.They spent AT LEAST 6 years(I wouldn't be surprised if they had been working on this baby way before the 06's came out) R&D'ing THIS new bird. While they were churnin out zx14's...the engineers were happily and proudly taking ALL the incoming 'issues' that owners reported, and applying that to this badazz baby.Nope....I see excellence in this bike's future.I wouldn't hold yer breath waiting for the 'other shoe to drop' here. They got this deal right all the way.You watch and see guys....we're here...January 26th,2012.In one year...us 14R owners need to at least come back here(if any go away)and give our FULL reports of OUR own bike's condition.Keep up our maintenance like we're supposed to.Ride em like they're supposed to be ridden(wink wink).I'm definitely IN on this deal....unless the inevitable happens first...in that case,Whoever finds my bike can ride her and give their FULL report!!!!!

And frankly...I don't care if RICKY GADSEN starts dissin his 14R...MINE is doing FINE.Chris Ulrich?Suzuki pilot.Yeah...I'm gonna REALLY trust what he has to say .If the WHOLE WORLD tells me''your bike isn't this or that...."....I HAVE ONE.I KNOW firsthand what it is and isn't.And I'm just BEGINNING!!!!WHHHHEEEEEEE!!!!!

Had mine for a little more than a month, and I am able to get it out and ride (sorry to rub it in winter people!). Not had any problems, other than my steering headnut and battery connections being loose, but I blame that on poor pre delivery inspection/set up. Went over the bike and didn't find anything else. She runs so strong, I am very optimistic that my 14R will be problem free for a long time.........(please!!!)

Oh, that is stealershit hold your ankles with a $500 hit of some setup charges. Then the sad start in with the center nut and everyone complaining about a knock at the front end. It's dealer level. YOu know the factory does not ship a loose bike. Prep means, catch every nut/bolt is the walk around... I betcha the pre-delivery sheet said, 'sweep' or the same as saying check all hardware.

They owe you some pre back. You gotta say something so the next owner of whatever Pre... Pee on the back of the shop. There is your problem. Make them aware is what I'd caution that dealer principal or say pull his franchise he doesn't wise up.

They didn't charge me set up, so I have no beef there. I did talk to the owner and have him have a word with the guys out back. Much rather wait an extra half hour for delivery than risk wadding up $14k on the way home.

I agree all the way. This is their new flagship model and looks to be a stunner. I have never owned a Kawasaki and look forward to making this my first. I've always been a Honda but they pretty much jumped ship when it comes to making desierable bikes so F*** them.

I spoke on line with a guy years ago that lived in Malaysia (I think). They had 100% tax on luxury items like big bore bikes. I think he said he paid the equivalent of $36k for his 14. It was the same with aftermarket parts. I sold him an exhaust and he wanted me to understate the customs form so he wouldn't get burned on duty.
