ZX-10 Supercharger
07/28/10 4:12 PM

Finally, a commercial supercharger kit for (early) ZX10s. Soon for the VFR800 and GSX-R1000. $3825 or more. You can see it at aaperf.com

I don't think they could shoehorn it into a ZX14 but you never know.

EDIT: gawd I hate the url tool on this forum software.

I talked with the AA Perf guys, they are designing a ZX14 kit right now. It will take some time, there isn't much room to shoehorn it in.

Same for the last few years of ZX10s, they are busier in the places you can put the supercharger itself on the early ZX10s.

Will be interesting....

Hmmmm.... BST wheels..... Supercharger..... not too far apart in price, though the 'charger will be over $4k for sure.

Still, 298 HP on pump gas with no other mods is pretty inticing.

Looks like we'll be waiting a bit longer for the zx14 kit ... but there is some good news!

I'm interested in your supercharger kit for the zx14. When will this kit be available? Are you going to offer pre-order discounts, like you did for the zx10r kit?

What will the zx14 kit include? Where will it mount?

Any info will be appreciated. I have cash waiting. I'm not impressed with the other kit on the market. Your stuff looks top notch!

Thanks for the compliments. The 14 kit will be coming, but not for a little while. I'm currently working on the GSXR1000, and once that's wrapped up, I'm bringing in a Hayabusa, but after that the ZX14 is next.

I will offer a pre-order discount, and chances are the ZX14 kit will be the cheapest of all our kits (as it does not need a full airbox). I can't say where the blower will sit until I have a bike in-house, but the location will depend on how the frame mounts to the engine, the location of the radiator, the shape & size of the header, and the contour of the bodywork -- I take all these things into account simultaneously when positioning the supercharger, and if things work out, it all remains pretty much hidden behind the plastic. If it cannot be done unless the Rotrex sits outside the bodywork (as is the case on the TTS kit), then it won't be done. I have a feeling that I'll be able to make it work, though.

Keep an eye on my site for news and updates, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for your interest,
Dan Antonelli

Well, if and when they have a kit I will request drawings (blueprints) of the layout and if it looks good, that will be my choice of engine modification.

Although the supercharger uses a little horsepower since the crankshaft is turning the compressor pulley one way or another, it is very small because of the restriction on the size blower that can be installed.

The big benefit is the benefits start at idle, and increase parallel to rpm and the horsepower curve. Unlike a turbo, which has to spool up and might not kick in effective horsepower gains for a few seconds. Even the state-of-the-art turbos in the 2011 cars with all their electronics have spool lag.

And, I will be able to keep my CT-DUALS exhaust system, which I have come to really like a lot.

I've had both turbo and supercharged cars. I like the linear power delivery of the SC better than turbos.

I've exchanged a few more emails with Dan @ A&A. He says if he has enough interest in the zx14 kit, he will bump the R&D in front of the Busa.
So if anyone has interest in a supercharger for their zx14, contact Dan and let him know you are waiting!

I received a second email from him recently, and it is looking like first half 2011 probably.

I have little doubt the kit is going to make BST wheels look cheap, though.

Gotta pay to play.

I know pre-order pricing for the 10r kit was around $3800. I would expect about the same for the Big Ninja kit.

Shoot Dan an email and let him know you want one, info@aaperf.com. The more interest there is, the sooner we get a kit.

Quote from an email conversation with Dan @ A&A:

Well, I guess if I knew I had a certain amount of initial buyers lined up (say, 10 or more), I might be tempted to bump the 14 up in line, but interest in the Busa has been pretty strong thus far -- if I can make some space, I might attempt both the Busa and ZX14 builds at the same time. I have 2 or 3 ZX14 owners already lined up as potential donors

Well, it is 2011 so maybe this is the year we get a supercharger kit.

Man I hope so. I want this thing so bad, I offered to ship my brand new bike out to PA for the R&D. If Dan doesn't get to the zx14 soon, I'm gonna end up ordering the kit for my zx10r... and hurting myself.
