Powerlet and LED Install Locations
05/17/13 11:17 PM

So I'm gonna put some LED's on Casper here shortly and install a powerlet for 12v power for GPS/Phone, etc. Has anyone successfully mounted one in the plastic panels to either side of the instrument cluster? The last one I did on the fairing stay below the key, worked well but I'd like it to be up more in one of these panels either on the left or right. Just wondering what kind of outlet you used and where you ordered it from.

As for LED's who's done them and what kit did you use? The last ones I did were single color green under the tail and each side of the front wheel. Since the bike is white was thinking of purple this time around or multicolor option maybe. Oh and adding some to the inside of those fins on each side of the bike.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thread 1

Not in the plastic but still

By the Key

If you scroll down on this thread ^^^^ you will see on in the plastic.

I found a great thread on one board, don't think it was on here??? but I will try to find it, it was a great writeup. Guy put 2 in once on each side of his gauges.

haven't done the power outlet but I did do some leds in blue, under the front fender, front upper fairing, the side fairings, swing arms and under tail, used www.ledaccentlights.net. I did solder all my wires and shrink wrapped the joining solder joints, waterproof, long lasting and bright.

When I finish mine up I'll show y'all what I did. I couldn't find a decent spot to put one so I got the idea to put the outlet inside my tankbag and have quick disconnect hiding in the front fairing and run a plug from the from the bag to it. All I need to finish is the wiring for the outlet inside the bag.

http://www.zx14ninjaforum.com/userfiles/Bobby914/Copy%20of%20IMAG0469.jpg Sounds like a great way to stay functional and stealthy at the same time. Trying to upload a pic of my lights, hope it comes through.

That looks fantastic! Gonna start the hunt for the right outlet and some LED kits! I really like how you lit the front wheel up I may need to add that to the mix!

I lit the front wheel by taking off the wheel and the front fender, mounted the lights right behind the air wings on the fender, soldered the two connections together so I only had to run one wire up the inside of the brake line, secured the wire with black zip ties. I secured the wires under the fender with crazy glue making sure to leave enough slack for the wires to lay flat against the fender then put gorilla tape over the wires for a little weather proofing. Tire does not rub the tires and been in the rain with no problem. I did take off the glue strip that comes on the back of the lights in exchange for 3M double sided automotive tape, personal preference of mine.
