The great thing about the ZX-14 and other big-motor bikes is you can shift just about anywhere on the rpm range and get away with it.

When I'm just motoring around town and out in the country enjoying the ride, I don't go much above 4 grand for shift points. Sometimes I shift all the way to 6th gear using a bit over 3 grand for the shift point.

When I ride like that, my estimated range increases greatly. When I don't, the next gas stop gets much closer. Heh.

I kid, i kid.

When i'm tooling around i usually shift around 4000 or less. Generally see close to or over 40 mpg on the "instant" screen.

I usually shift around 5k sometimes less around town. I sometimes jump from 3rd to 6th, I can's seem to get over 33 mpg avg, even though I see more then 44 on the instant read out. I'm still stock with the flies out.

even shifting at 3K I seem to be able to pass anything on the road except a gas station.

Wouldn't know what that "around town" deal is either.I get AWAY where I can "leave yer cares behind"(I REALLY DISLIKE struggling through Traffic!!)(and waiting at signals thanks).5 grand,shift.6-9,shift.2-5 shift.11,500-shift.WoHoo!!!(I'll be dropping that one for 10 grand or so-no real pop at 11,500.)37 mpg's-flies out,PCIII.16/42 gearing. If I use stock gearing,it'll be up around 40 mpg I'm pretty sure.Maybe more.HAVE FUN!!!!!
