I have a tiny scratch on my elbow and knee.

Weird thing is, fairly thin pants, no jacket (just a tshirt, it was 85 degrees yesterday) and no gloves. Nothin but a helmet.

I was able to ride the bike home. Only thing that actually broke was the right side peg bracket.

Pretty strange story actually.

They had the highway closed to 1 lane for construction. I was behind a pickup/enclosed trailer. I was in the righthand side of the lane. Appearantly the trailer didn't have any brake lights. Because he stopped pretty unexpectedly.

I grabbed too much front brake (btw, don't do that on these bikes). Front washed and threw the bike to the right. It was almost over, but somehow i managed to get it thrown back over to the left (in hindsight, i wish i would have just layed it down). bike flopped into the side of this trailer, bounced off and next thing i know its about 10 feet away on its right side. I was traveling between 15-20 mph.

It seems as though the guy in the truck didn't even know what happened. Because by the time i had the bike up and started, he was gone. part that pissed me off is people were going AROUND me, and only 1 person rolled down the window and asked if i was ok.

Takes your heart out to see your ride looking like that doesn't it? Don't dwell on it any more than you have to.

If you have insurance it might be worth using - that plastic can get really expensive to replace.

GEICO has been really good to me w/ mine - the bike shop has all the parts and will probably get it assembled by midnext week. I'm pretty excited.

Glad you weren't injured - that's the really expensive equipment,

Sorry about the bike, thank God you weren't hurt...

Will this incident change your mind about wearing gear on a bike at all times?

Slow, it's those unenexpected low speed situations when you're off your gaurd that can really get ya. I agree with Steven, it won't buff out and you know you're never gonna hear the end of this once 1Bad finds out.

Anyway, I'm just glad to hear your OK bro, keep the rubber side down and the shiny bits pointin up!

Think of it this way you can order any color you want now! Glad you are okay, not to sound like you mother, but wear your darn gear kid. Shit I just sounded like you mother. I benefit to much from your posts to have you smashed on the side of the road. Yeah I am also a selfish son of a biatch.

You gonna look mighty tough racin' tonight. Maybe you want to keep it that way a while? Very happy to hear you are not injured. We've heard stories from some members who fared a lot worse in similar situations. Let the fall sharpen your gaurd for next time. There always is another next time.

Tonight was.. Not much better. But still better.

Got to the track late, had to get a new tire mounted and my peg bracket welded. Got everthing done, loaded the trailer and ski-daddled down there. Car race going on.

No biggie, usually get 4 or 5 passes in during the car races.

They had a new guy in the staging lanes. When it was time to pull tnt's he would only pull 4 bikes at a time :( meaning sometimes, you had to wait 3 rounds before you got a pass in.

I got one pass. It was simply a shakedown pass, pure and simple.. (i think it was like a 10.4 at 90 mph lol).

3 hours later i was almost up for another pass. Car broke and left oil on the track.. So we had to wait. Lightning started flashing.. Pretty soon felt sprinkles... damnit.

took the bike back to the trailer, and before i got the ramp out it started pouring. And i mean POURING. bout the time i got the tie-downs out, it started hailing.. Golfball size.

Sigh.h

Just as i thought it couldn't get any worse.. Got the bike tie'd down and got in my truck. Started backing out of the spot, rear tires SUNK. Got stuck.

Fortunately, the guy pitted next to me had a brother out there, with a jeep and a winch. They were kind enough to pull me out.

Then on the way home i called my gf.. Had to listen to how bad her day was..

But, you know what they say. A bad day at the racetrack is better then any day at work.

I will give you credit slow, you always end on a positive note. I think we all have weeks where everything we touch breaks or something goes wrong. They say it is how you handle those times that defines who you are.

That sucks man.

I always try to ride outside the tracks of the vehicles in front of me - gives better vision of the road and vehicles in front of the one I'm following, and gives me an easy out in case I get caught daydreaming.

Having vision of the road around here in soCal is a big deal, IMO. Seems like there's more crap in the road than there are illegal aliens in the schools. Ladders, rolls of carpet, huge chunks of semi retreads, suitcases, and the list goes on and on.

Best of luck against the fat guy.
