That's how it happens on the mean streets. Same story I've heard dozens if not hundreds of times. One momentary lapse of judgment and just like when you french fry when you should pizza, you're gonna have a bad time. Luckily everyone was pretty much ok.

Little did I know the other guy was accelerating to catch me so I wouldn't miss the turn, by the time he got around corner and noticed I was turning it was to late...

How are your kidney stones? I had kidney stones since 1997, and I've passed more stones than I care to remember.

It was an unbelievable month of withering pain. Pain on and off. Got hospitalized and spent some time with a bag of morphine drip with an IV. Passed it and climbed back on the bike. Was brutal.

Yeah, that is not good ... obviously. There's a good reason for riding staggered, and dammit if he didn't have to learn the hard way, and at your expense, too.

Adjuster is coming tomorrow morning to look at my list of additional parts.

Nothing yet... Dropped it off at dealer Friday..
I called adjuster office as well do they know bike is at shop (haven't heard back)
So just a waiting game...

Shop can't touch bike until insurance sends paper work...

And how progressive oh so likes answering the phone, I might just have to go through my insurance and let them fight progressive for the money back ..

Glued mine back together and painted all the parts that were scratched. Just rode 173 miles to dc. Got a check for 8200. Gonna pay the bike off.

Looks good man glad it worked out..Pretty sure mines gonna be totaled. Tabs broke off of stering stem where spedo mounts, motor mount busted where frame slider mounts, plus whole front end gone, some scratches on swing arm, not to mention all the non stock accessories i had.

Is the steering stop broken off? Any frame damage should be a total.

Stering stem looks ok. Tabs on stering stem that holds spedo busted. Engine mount busted. So yeah a new frame is gonna be needed.

Generally its totaled if there is frame damage. Mine wasnt that bad. Just 8k in scratched and broken plastics. If they dont total it, which I cant see how they wouldnt. I can send you the schematics for all of the parts and you can nickle and dime it to death. I even found awesome pricing on oem parts. Pay it off if there is a balance. Then part it out.

Check your insurance policy too. If you have more money in accessories than the policy covers then your SOL. Mine had 3k additional coverage, which was fine for what was damaged. Secondly, my policy only paid $500 total for helmet replacement. So I got boned on a 3 month old Schuberth helmet, which is better than nothing, but still. Shuberth also will sell you a new helmet for 1/3 price, but my dumb ass never registered mine. Policies change state to state as well.

Insurance adjuster just said there gonna total it (yeah after 2 months)!
Needless to say in fuckig boiling right now .

Been thinking about this... I agonized over whether or not to install frame sliders. When I read stuff like this, I second guess myself.

I wonder if the frame sliders busted your motor mounts for ya? I guess it's hard to say, given the extent of the total damage.

Before I installed them on my cycle, I read many reports about 0 MPH "tip-overs" busting (and totalling) frame motor mounts. I understand a cycle going down with forward momentum is not the same dynamic as a tip-over.

I know I'm gonna leave mine on, but I'm thinking what's the diff? total for plastics replacement (a slider event with no sliders mounted), or total for frame motor mounts broke (a tip-over event)? It's still a total...
