IF it were ME-first thing I'd do BEFORE I pulled the plug all the way out of the threads-is you could buy a small dentist's mirror at the store and look down in there to see if there's any pieces loose. If there are,get ya a flexible plastic straw, and coat the tip with some kind of non permanent glue or somethin, and fish those pieces out first before removing the plug from the threads.Loosen carefully, and just before pulling it free of the threads, again,,go with the mirror deal, just to be on the safe side. Then replace and KEEP THE WRENCH STRAIGHT on that plug when ya go to tighten down.I don't think ya tightened too much, sounds like you had the socket cocked off center over the porceline piece. That's what usually will snap a plug.Finger tighten with the supplied tool kit wrench first, then finish the tightening with the tool kit wrench. No need to overdo the tightening.I never used a torque wrench on mine-just snugged it down and called it done.Haven't had em loosen up yet-and they've got plenty of miles on em since then. You got lucky having it be the outside one.Gotta make sure when ya do the final snugging that you're NOT angling that socket on there. They'll snap off every time! And snugging em down SHOULD NOT BE SEVERAL TURNS.Once she starts to snug, just a bit more-nothing extreme!(The plug "may" begin to tighten somewhat BEFORE she actually gets to the very bottom of the threads there). You'll know when she bottoms out.Fer Gosh sake don't cross thread-tighten by hand FIRST to be sure it's threading okay. You will have to use the plug wrench to tighten by hand.

Blue still doesn't understand the concept of paragraphs, but gives good information. :)

I learned 40 years ago. Finger tighten. Then put the spark plug wrench on it and snug it. Plugs as a rule get tighter as the engine runs, in my experience.

Like stated, compressed air will blow out anything down that hole. So no need to grease or glue a fishing rig to get all of that out. 100psi does wonders for cleaning up.

What was the torque setting? Like stated, I can bust a plug with the best of them and a slight angle loaded on the porcelain will snap the plug. But to torque that thing to break, now I wonder how much thread pull you made with the pounds setting? You can just take the wrench and socket and break that plug body clean off the threads and she should spin right out you twisting the extension once the threads tell you things are fine with a hand spin; not a wrench with you sweating on the pull you need two hands to lefty loosea is the head is junk now and needs a tap, and/or thread insert.

Bottom line, you want the old plug to hand spin out, a clean area right before you remove the last 2 threads out of the hole is spray air one more time to blow out anything left behind. Nothing needs to fall in the plug hole and to make sure you did not mess the threads up. You should be able to take a rubber hose and press down over the porcelain's body. Now you hand spin the plug in till it bottoms out; torque to spec @ 115 inch pounds (13 N-m).
Book's Caution!: "The insulator of the spark plug may break if when the wrench is inclined during tightening."

I'm like blue with hand tightening, but that takes some experience to know when to stop turning, feeling about 9 foot pounds or less is about as tight I want to load on those fine threads.

"You'll need the "wrench"to tighten by hand".No,you actually don't as HUB said. The plastic tube trick works just as well!.I used the tool kit wrench-forgot about the tube thingy.
