The CBR900RR, or Fireblade as everyone else called it, was probably the biggest milestone in recent sports bike history. As far as the 16" wheel goes, IMO, it all depended what bikes you were riding previously and how you rode them. I had a RRP and a later RRV but the first one was a revelation after stepping off a GSXR1100 and FZR1000. 35kg lighter than the class leading FZR and only 4kg heavier than Honda's own CBR600. Turn in was in a different league to any big sports bike before it and certainly did take some getting used to. The use of a 16" front was slagged off by some at the time but that's because it was just too big a step for many people used to the large/weighty offerings of the day, but that's JMO. I loved mine and wish I'd still got it 'cos good standard examples are fetching very good money these days. I've had numerous top flight sports bikes since then and, apart from the '98 R1 which came close, nothing has offered the quantum leap forward of that first 'Blade. What a bike. JMO
