My final destination in the Continental US-Key West. I took my car. Hell, I forgot about the Super Bowl being Miami and the Weather changed. But I drove straight though the night and got to Key West at 2AM. That town never sleeps. A Guy was at the Buoy and I was able to get my Car in the photo. That would never happen during the day.
I visit Don Garlits Museum. There are 300 vehicles to look at. Don is still alive at 88 yrs old. He is now racing a 2019 Dodge Wide body 808HP Challenger. They said he is like a Kid. His Wife Pat died in 2014. Anyone who likes Drag Cars get down there.
I also stopped at FT Rucker, AL US Army Aviation Museum. A Memorial Stone has been placed on the Grounds for the Soldiers who were killed in my 48th AHC unit in Vietnam. I had to visit it.
I visited a longtime Studebaker Club Member outside of Ocala. He had a 1937 Studebaker Pickup. He added a modern powertrain and updated the interior.
Everyone speeds in Florida. I took I-75 south and I-95 north. I never saw a State Trooper on the Interstate. Any speed you care to drive is OK. Semi's were doing 75mph (posted 70) in the middle lane. Left lane is 85+.
I drove US Highway 1 from Rivera Beach north through Daytona Beach. Then took highway 100 to Lake City.
I got Mosquito Bites. I'm glad I went.
