Slip-on exhaust question

Hello all, I was wondering if I buy duel slip-ons for my new bike, do I need to buy a power commander V for it to run properly, or can purchase it at a later date. Also does it depend on the exhaust manufacturer whether or not you need one. Thanks in advance.

You do not need a PC with slip ons. It will run just fine and healthy. The ecu can make its own small adjustments for the slips. A PC will give you a little more power out of the slip ons though.

But a reflash is worth it, in MHO, just to get rid of the "safety mode"

These bikes are pretty fat from the factory. A free flowing exhaust isn't enough to put it in the lean.

I'm running Akra headers with Leo Vince pipes with no PCV, just ECU reflashed. No issues. I'm hooking up an A/F gauge this weekend.

Im planning on getting a set of Muzzy slip-ons next month, I dont really need any more power so no need for a full system.

I have a 2014 14R, I installed Two Brothers dual slip ons and it runs fine with the OEM engine controls. You don't need a PC V.

I'm probably the only one but I like the stock cans , especially after I painted heat shields all black. I don't like the sound of the stockers, but do like the look for some reason . Without them the bike seems smaller.. And I guess it technically is lol, wish there was a way to gut the stock pipes. seen one guy on here chopped them in half which was pretty cool.

On valve overlap [when all valves are open at the same time], this draws out part of the fuel charge as it also empties the unspent. The PAIR adds fresh air, reignites the unspent, this speeds the air and pulls more overlap out, or the fresh incoming.

If you slow down that action, cough-cough, you close just the PAIR hose, close the ram hole it came out of. This will slow the charge out the overlap, richen the combustion so as not to lose a little bit of the fresh charge out the chamber. The bike smooths some. Feels flat and rich. The bike runs rich or just this side of lean is mean, meaning, if you left the PAIR alone she'd run more crisp and tinny. With the PAIR disabled the vibration subsides some.

With PAIR + Slips = No need for a piggy
W/out PAIR + Slips = No need for any piggyback

Or for the same price as a piggy back(power commander) you could have your ecu flashed and you will never have to worry about having it tuned on a dyno, which cost lots of $$$$ to have done. More power and better running! There's a couple guys on here that know their shit that can hook you up with a great tune for much less than dicking around with a PC. I had Cblast do mine. It's one good option if it's ever something you are looking into. Trust me a proper ecu flash is tons more effective than a PC could ever be.

Would adding slip ons have much affect on gas mileage?

I like the Graves slip ons, but since I use mine for sport touring, and am getting 44MPG at 70 MPH, hate to chance loosing any MPG. Maybe loosing the claimed 24lbs would increase my mileage?
