05/25/11 2:00 PM

NEW MEMBER! Can anyone help me out with this, I have a 2008 zx14 with less that 1,000 miles. I know ,i know, i know..but anyway when I try to turn on my bike now i'm not hearing that fueling injection sound and my bike won't start. It was working fine when I got on to ride it, but when I stopped and tried to turn on again, NOTHING NOW!

first off welcome, please dont take this as me insulting your itelligance but is your on /off switch on? if so maybe you lost your fuel pump, check fuses. 1000 miles is it safe to say its still under warranty?

Ride much?
No.
Charge the battery much since 3 years?
No, why?
Change the gas or drain the gas?
No, why?
Wanna sell that bike... It's really messed up now.
No, I know why, now how much is a battery?
I don't know?
How much if the injectors are gummy I let it sit 3 years.
I don't know, why?
I'm thinking of selling it. It's gonna cost me a lot of labor if I can't change the battery and pour in some...
OK, I'll be right there.
Hey, don't you wanna hear the rest?
No. I bought a bike that runs with the same mileage same price.
I'll take off what it needs to be cleaned.
What am I going to do with a FLEEEEEEEETove bikes?
I'm a GuyCo salemen... Let me write that up for ya.

Welcome Ceasar.Okay...you left a lot out of your "now it won't start" sentence.Turn your key on.DO NOT CRANK ENGINE.Go to your voltage display....what's it reading? That's the FIRST thing I would check.Anything less than approximately 12 something volts....you are not getting enough amps. The other stuff(lights and all) may still seem okay. One more question....when you turn the key on...do your dials sweep first?

IF I recall correctly...the cutoff power point for my bike was right at around 12.8 volts.Anything less than that, she would crank, but not fire.If I continued to hit the starter button, she would rapidly die off from there.Your engine should fire after two or three revolutions of the pistons. That's about it.It should not need to have a continuous crank after it won't initially fire up.You could open the throttle wide open for just a second while cranking...but it shouldn't need to have that done.At least it'll tell ya if your fuel pump is supplying fuel to the rail.
