Found a new home for my 2007 Candy Plasma Blue ZX14 earlier in the month. Just got back from picking up a 2003 TL1000R with only 2440 miles. Rode it from northern California back to Dallas. Geeze, there's a HUGE difference between 120 HP V-twin and a 170 HP I-4. (I know, D'uh.)

I've always wanted a V-Twin sportbike. I'm in the midst of doing all the easy mods to the TL, one of which is removing all the vacuum operated flapper valves that cut off air box input, and doing a TRE. Between the two, the bike really feels like its being strangled until you get about 5k or so. And, it's significantly over-geared too. I hope to have all the mods done this week, but I've already got a sinking feeling that I'll be looking for another 14 soon.

Next month is the Kawi dealer show. When he comes back from the show, he will have the new models or know a few new models like the 14. But then again, you would have to wait till April before you see one. Or was that end of March?

Nothing thrills like power and I live for acceleration....if I couldn't own a hard accelerating bike I prolly wouldn't even ride And once you've experienced a top shelf powerhouse like the 14, its going to be hard to step back down to anything else For most folks I think the power ladder is a one-way climb

Interesting post Matt - when I was looking at 2nd hand bikes before ending up with a new '09 '14, I had often looking for a nice example of a TLR. I too had always wanted to get a REAL performance twin, but not wanting to spend all that on a Ducati or Aprilia (would if I could!).

Interesting to hear you may end up preferring the '14... although I can't say I'm surprised based on how great this bike is.

Have you got a yellow TLR?
