2006 zx14 california model flies out
11/24/09 8:16 PM

I just bought my 06 zx14 and read all the posts. Decided to take out the flies. First off I have to say the whole job took me about 45min to 1hr. It went very easy and very smooth. I didnt use sny heat on the screwdriver, just a good snap on screwdriver and a small hammer to tap and break the loctite. Every screw came right out.

Now for the difference. I notice no hesitation, surging, anything. Runs as smooth as it did before, but hits incredibly hard at 3k rpm vs 7500 rpm. HUGE difference in low end torque. THIS IS how it should be. I haven't added the power commander yet and it runs flawless at light throttle, half, or full. I am very happy with this mod and would recomment it to anybody! and it was free!!!

Next will be the pipe and power commander.

Thanks evrybody

pwraddict, conrats and welcome to the site. please keep in mind your bike will now run lean at 34 to 3500 Rpm. Don't hang there and you will be fine. There is Dyno charts are located on this site which show you the lean spots, but I'm not sure where. Maybe one of the guys can post a link. cheers.

... your bike will now run lean at 34 to 3500 Rpm.

Watch this: I'm cruising 34 to 3500 rpm. I have a sustained mph. My flies are open to where the flow of air is the same no matter if I am with or without flies.

Think about this: How can I go lean if I am at a constant rpm/mph with the throttle valve open and the subs open throwing in the same amount of air with or without a fly in the way?

Hey Hub,how about if the manfuacture tuned lean at 3500 for emissions, less fuel leaner mixture, power commander required to richen it up
