Bad Tyre
02/07/13 6:13 PM

Anyone had this sort of thing happen to the back tyre? split from side to side.
It is the stock tyre, Bridgestone Hypersport S20R Battlax 190
Only just hit 2500km, sent pic to dealer he said its not that bad, and will be ok.
Heading over there now to have it out with him.

Looks like an old tire or defect. Shouldn't be old enough to split. What are the last 4 numbers of the digits following "DOT" on the side of the tire?

34th week of 2012....that's when it was made.It should still be okay...that appears to be a defect IMO...probably under Bridgestone warranty I would think.Certainly not an old tire.Maybe e-mail a pic to Bridgestone....and tell em about it...with yer mileage. My bet...they'll replace it free.Lucky it didn't separate while riding...but it's headed that way.

OEM tires, regardless of designation, are price-point junk and not the same as the same designation of tires off-the-rack. Hopefully they replaced yours with the latter and not the former.
