Question re quickshifter
01/04/15 5:20 PM

Hi guys. I'm seriously looking at getting a quickshifter for the "Beast of the North". I have read quite a few threads on this cool bit of kit but can anyone enlighten me - does any of those mentioned shift both up and down?

Two years ago there was one model of HM that shifts clutchless both up and down. Mighty nice but very expensive. Now that I have a QS and know how much fun it is, I'd say the up /down shift model would be worth a thousand bucks if you have that kind of cash waiting. You'll definitely use it a lot.

If I ever get another one, I'd probably want to go with the HM GP. Separate adjustable kill time and sensitivity for each gear. Capable of clutchless downshifts (but looks like you need to buy a blipper module from some other company to have that). $$$$$$ cha-CHING!

IDK where you would order it in the US but here's what I found. LOL they won't even mention a price until you send them your bike model and contact info.

Most are only for clutchless up shifts. I've been able on the track and spirited ride to down shift in higher gears at lower rpm ranges just by blip in the throttle and down shifting. Just gotta be careful to not over rev bike

Thanks for the feedback so far. I think I will give the HM outfit a call tomorrow and of course I'll check in with Cblast.

You might also check into electric or air shifters like Pingle. I'm pretty sure those downshift as well as upshift. Those are little more bulky especially if you need an air tank and possibly a compressor. I like the compact road racing look of a strain gauge shifter like the HM or Annitori...but if your into showing off the bling, a Pingle looks good.

I just had a friend tell me his Pingle shifter took a dump after 7 rides with excellent performance. That is probably an isolated incident. I haven'y heard anything else bad about Pingles.

So is the shift sensor and everything built into the shift rod itself?

Yes. This will work with the stock rear set. New shifter lever and toe shifter.

I brought that one up before and was told I'm nuts, but if I get a quick shifter that IS the one it will be.

When did you post info on that one? I been out of the loop for a few months and a lot of new stuff has come out. I had the older rl quick shifter and I loved it. Used it on my zx10 track bike for 3-4 years no issues. Installed on zx14 for at least another year until it failed. Sent it in for repair and ended up with qs4 pro at a discounted price. Installed qs4 with default settings and I run reverse shift with aftermarket rearsets with no issues so for. but ive only put about 200 miles on new bike. I do have an android phone if I do need to modification settings tho.
I will update with more time on the bike but the new stuff is a plus without having to change stock parts.

Toledoups, why were people saying you were nuts?

We had a group buy last month on another site. HM made 10 and those sold out quick. I pulled out of the group buy last minute. I was sent one on mistake, after seeing it first hand it was a sharp looking bit of kit. I placed my order through a dealer as I had store credit. However since all 10 units had sold my order is back ordered 3 weeks.

I just got the Healtech qs4 a couple of days ago based on a post by Blkcasper. It's a quick shifter that allows me to keep my lowered foot peg setup.

Installed it yesterday (easy to install) and was only able to ride it up and down the street in my neighborhood (30° outside) but 1st impressions are very positive from a rider who's never ridden a bike with a quick shifter. Also @ $289.00 can't beat it.

Really looking forward to taking it out on the road and really testing it out.

Also the Android app setup is pretty slick, just need an opportunity to take it out on the road and do some adjusting if needed. Of course there is snow on the ground today, BOO.

There's got to be a way for you IPhone users to side load the app (jailbreak). Wonder why Healtech hasn't offered the app on the Apple market, or is it Apple who's not allowing it? Doesn't seem like a good business plan on Healtech's part.

My boy has a couple old androids he's gonna drop off so once I see if they work I may go ahead with purchase...

I don't think its apple it's prolly heal tech since android is easier to work with to a degree ... But it's def awkward that they made android app b4 iphone... I'm sure they will figure that out as sales won't be much until they make an iPhone app.

Well the number of users of Android powered devices is massive worldwide so I'm sure they thought it out. If they had made it only for Apple I'm sure they would have taken a hit, Google market is massive and accessible.

Good. It connects via Bluetooth to the module so all you need is WiFi to download the app to the Android device. Sorry if I'm stating information you might already know.

Healtech response is...
iOS will be made but don't wait for it!
He said they use iOS themselves and bought a cheap android to do programming..
