coolant leak
07/14/11 4:14 PM

i got a 2011 pearl green/ebony zx14 not too long ago, well i drove it for a week and started seeing coolant markings all over the right side of the byke, coming from the uper radiator hose, so i took it to the dealer and all they did was to tighten the clamp, they did this twice, so i took it fot the 600 mile service, a week after that it was leaking even worst, took it again and they did the same thing, it slowed the driping but i could still see some drops, so i took it in last week so they could replace the clamp or the hose, and they have had it for a week now doing "tests" and just told me that they need aproval from kawasaki to replace the hose or clamp, and that can take from one to two weeks.

i just wanna know if this has hapened to anyone before , and how long does it ususaly take. well the only good thing is that im getting a free upgrade to engine ice.

That has comeback written all over it. If the clamp makes it tighter, then is not the clamp not the problem? If a hose continues to leak, is there not two more areas to look at? Is that metal fitting cast wrong or has some flaw that it lets the liquid past the hose and clamp?

Would not the hose have some sort of crack that where the clamp makes it or breaks it like pressure pushes more seam inside the hose you can't see?

1. Hose
2. Clamp
3. Fitting

How did this turn into dealer level like comeback after come back neck time we tighten that screw until warranty plays out. Here comes the wrong part. And we wait. And then they try the hose of not the clamp. Then find it was the fitting kind of pick the 3 amigosome way some how it tumbles like that.

Are you under warranty? Ask to see the parts order sheet to Kawi. It's all on line. Everything is on line so that paper trail can be punched up go ask. Kawi usually does not drop the ball I special order from my dealer.

I am giving that mail time to reach you and it should be there within a week. If they hold off for a bigger order = You lose! Those are days wasted and so it goes how slow the shop is. Who dropped the ball?

This sounds like a very shady dealer. How has this played out as of now?

I would ask for the bike back ASAP. Find a good Kaw certified bike mechanic that is not a dealership. I have very little faith in most dealerships for mech work.
