OEM R&D work with plug jobbers to make spark plugs work for their latest design. It's all one package is the 14. I sorta think there are so many plugs is plug my buggy with a new reference number is one has been created buy design.
I do not change design. My crime is OEM.

I'm just over 10k and haven't changed 'em yet. What did you notice? Interesting that the Iridiums are only good for 8,000 miles on the 14. My CBR 1000 calls for replacement at 32,000 miles. Wonder if Honda knows something?

I would have to agree with you Steven. The Honda uses a NGK IMR9C-9HES Iridium Platinum Spark Plug very similar to the Iridium plug the 14 uses. I just don't understand the ridiculously short service life of this plug on the 14. Either Honda has it wrong at 32,000 miles or KHI is wrong at 8000 miles or these machines operate in a very different manner which I'm not buying. Fuel grade, peak combustion pressures, manifold pressure, rpms etc. are all very similar. Only difference I can think of (speculating here) might be that the catalysts are more sensitive to plug degradation on the Kawi. I'm at 10.7K and have already bought the sparkplugs but haven't gotten around to installing them yet. I think I'll hold off til I do the valve inspection at 15K. Hubster, what's your take on all this?

The recommended 7.5K spark plug change is an "Emissions Related Item" according to the owners manual. see page 111 in the 06, at the very bottom. I believe Honda has it about right with your 32K. Anywhere between 32K to 50K is probably getting close to service life of the plugs.
