2011 COG Northeast
12/28/10 4:17 AM

Two one-day events:

Sport Touring Ride, about 200 miles long, meeting at Country Market Restaurant, Clear Brook, VA, at 8:30am on 05/01/2011.

The restaurant is co-located in the Flying J truck stop off I-81 at exit 323 in Winchester, VA. These are self-guided rides (4 on road, 1 off road) and route sheets are provided.

Everyone meets back at the Flying J after their ride.

Sport Touring Ride, 5 on road rides to choose from, around 200 miles, self-guided. This starts at 9am (says 9pm but that must be a typo) on 08/21/2011 and meets at the Iron Skillet in Carlisle, PA.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are already rides scheduled for 2011 by COG Northeast. If you go to COG Northeast Calendar you can look out over the coming 12 months and see all the events.

You don't have to be a COG member to participate, and many events are free anyway. For those not in the Northeast region, you can fool with the calendar and look at the various COG regions across the US.

setting up our own ride/meet would be great, but maybe tagging along with the COG may be easier to see what kind of turn out we get. In reality we all would love to be at a group meet, but something ususally comes up at the last minute or another type of valid excuse. This type of meet would allow those that can make it to meet others and those that couldn't to not feel bad that maybe the success of the event hinged on their attendance.

Just something for the folks to consider. Those two events in particular are co-sponsored by the WMMA and another sportbike club, so no doubt there will be many performance bikes present.

COG events are well attended, with or without us, but they are fun so wanted the guys/girls to have access to the information.

I'm going to everything COG Northeast does in 2011 prior to October 2011 (too cold for me) AND the COG National Rally at Mt. Snow VT in August.

Privateer, your bike is kitted up pretty nice as a sport tourer but how cool are the COG members around ZX14's in general. Planning some weekend rides in NY/VT which have some of the best mountain roads I know outside of NC and might be in the area around that time of the COG National rally......

Sorry man, don't go in this section often. COG will let anyone who can keep up ride with them. First of all, most rides and events are "get there on your own" and then you join up with small groups and go on rides. See the sights, kick back, whatever floats your boat.

Most COG guys are grudgingly respectful of my ZX14. Many of them have fallen far behind me on Blueridge Parkway and such places, and know the C14 cannot hang with a ZX14. And they respect the fact I have as much luggage capacity as they do, pretty much, and ride just as far as they do with less comfortable ergonomics.

They'd like me more if I had a C14, for sure, but its fine the way it is.
