Power Commander
08/18/09 2:23 PM

Hello everyone just wanted to know is it absolutely necessary to add the power commander when going to the full system. I am looking to go to the Yosh R77 Full System I really dont want anymore power the bike is fast enough for me as is. But I would like to know if anyone on the site is running it with out the power commander and if so have you experienced any problems with at all.

No need. Full system will still be in a muffled state. There is not really a pre-reading of the fueling tied in with the exhaust. Because simply, the muffler system has no influence being there is no 02 sensor in the muffler as a reader. Therefore, no need being this bike runs in open loop and is pre-fueled or preset before it fires turning the key fob on. You could literally run this without an exhaust.

It'll run just fine without one. Mine's got quite a bit done to it and it runs great without a PC

No, not really, Chuck. No 02 in a muffler to correct any rich/lean flow to adjust. So, what the, "open loop" does is mimic the 1Atmo. Kind of complicated, but somewhat easy to understand when all the sensors are backing up each other without the 02 or, 'closed loop."

You could run without a muffler and would run fine. It has no clue the muffler is on or off with the pre-fueling via the intake air pressure sensor, throttle position and crank speed. 3's the charm!

This is a question I had also. Just caught a Brocks full exhaust alien head for $250(guy wrecked his bike, small dent on muffler) I dont need any extra power, just sound. Thanks for the info

I doubt any noticeable loss in power. I have an 02 sensor's nose sticking deep in a header. I feel no difference. Muffler is the same. I doubt you collapsed the core of the exhaust to bend that center part of the inner passageway. You hit packing first. Ding in header tube would still be less than sticking an 02 sensor there and I doubt any loss, especially when it is that far away from the exhaust valve, way down past the radiator or say, 19" from valve is nothing to worry about.

What does YOSH say! That is who I would ask and then post what the engineers down there tell you. That will be interesting.
