slipon's to 4 into 1
05/11/09 9:04 AM

I have a question that somebody asked me and didn't know what to say but thought it was a good idea and I am going to post it here. The question is can I with my Vance & Hines slipons pull one side off and cap the exhuast port where the slipon connected and run the exhuast as a 4 into 1. I thought that was a great idea as I have the auto tune installed on my bike and it will adjust for the different properties of the exhuast, now i'm just looking for feedback to see if this is a feasible idea so I would like to hear any opinions or other ideas as too what this could affect good or bad.

i know there's a shop here that will do just that. they cover one connector and just use the one side. it sounds like crap but you can try it and see what you think.

The actual sound of the pipe sounds like crap

Dont waste your time or money,Your slip ons will work better then that.Manufactures such as Hindle spend a lot of time designing pipes, sell your slip-ons and buy a good after market system. The Hindle/Brock is a well designed system with a lot of research put into pipe lengths, diameters, gas flow, back pressure etc.You get what you pay for

yes, the actual sound of the pipe sounds like crap. i agree with daryle on this too. if you wanted a single can you should've gotten a full system.

I thought it was kind of funney when i looked at the exhaust system and noticed it was a 4-1-2 setup (I believe they did that to add the "3rd" cat at the collector). I would suspect that asthetics and sound were the main reasons for the dual exhausts and although i'm not an expert in fluid physics i doubt capping off the 2nd pipe would cause any siginificant power loss. At worst, it would create slightly more back pressure and may help low-end torque.

Why not try it,I'm not saying it wont work on a 08/09 14 but dyno it before and after.Summer of 07 at Parry Sound sportbike rally an 07 14 dynoed 171 sae corrected hp with Hindle slip-ons,I dynoed at 181 with Hindle/Brock Smeg full system dynojet map.I have since dynoed at 186 with a Brock map, same dyno, temp and humidity almost the same(07 14 )peak horse power is always the best thing a smooth curve is whats most important.I wish I could use a parametric EQ instead of a PC to set up my bike
