Scotts Oil Filter
11/01/14 10:17 AM

Hello Everyone, I was looking at these scotts oil filters. Figure Id see if anyone had any experience with them or an opinion.

Here Some Info

http://www.scottsonline.com/Product_Info.php?PartType=3

http://www.scottsonline.com/Product_Purchase.php?PartType=3&Bike_ID=6881

OEM Filter $12.00
Scotts HD $149.00
So that's 12 oil changes before it pays off. The question is.... is this a superior product? How long does it really last? Forever? How hard is it to clean???

I thought at the least it was interesting

I'm jusing Kawasaki 16097-0008. I know it's the Chinese version, but it's a very well built filter.

I agree with Vic, the OEM filter is a good one and the price is right!

I looked into these and what I found made sense.

Filters that use a perforated sheet are a bad idea from a theoretical standpoint. If a particle gets filtered it means that a perforation is closed. If a bunch a particles get filtered then a bunch of perforations are now closed. Now the filter has less flow.

Filters that make use of a matted filter element have a 3D advantage: a filtered particle isn't necessarily blocking oil flow... the oil can circumnavigate the particle and continue to flow through the media.
