Grab Bar & Bodywork Source?
06/15/14 5:50 AM

I had the dealer order me up the parts for the grab bar, because I will eventually put a SW Motec rack & top case on my bike.

The thing is, I bought and paid for all the parts back in mid March. I was told that they are on backorder. No big deal; I'm not in a hurry.

But, fast forward to mid June (today) and I still have no parts!

Is there a good online source for this stuff that isn't going to make me wait for months? I figured I'd send some business the dealer's way and ensure I get the right parts and not have to hassle with shipping things back to a seller if they're wrong, but 3 months is pretty ridiculous. I own a Husqvarna bike as well, and have never had to wait that long for Husky parts!

I think SW Motech is having some sort of issue that is delaying production of their parts:

I did eventually get my racks, but quite the wait. Glad I put in my order before touring season started!

I haven't even gotten around to ordering the twisted throttle stuff. I'm talking about the OEM Kawasaki grab bar and associated bodywork for the tail piece.

Bikebandit.com is sometimes pretty good with oem parts J, worth giving them a try.

Man, this is depressing. First I read through the other threads about heavily delayed SWMT racks, and now this?

I fully plan on installing all of these things on my 14R... I guess I better order them now if I want them by next season!

I used another rider's idea and mounted a 2002+ 650 V-strom luggage rack. I got one off ebay for $45. Made some brackets to mount to the frame under the seat and drilled holes through the plastic cover to use thread-all rods in the back.

I took the bumper pad off the Corbin seat.
6mm all thread rod.

I used 5/8" corrugated electrical pipe for spacers and fit them between the rack's webbing.

Drilling the hole through the cover was the hardest.

The rack has the grab handles in the right place and I mounted using SW-moteck plate a Givi Trunk to match the V35 side cases.

I can give more information if needed.
