New toy....
02/24/23 4:58 PM

Just ordered a '23 Camaro 1SS, with the 455HP 6.2, got a lot of option goodies, 20" black 5 spoke rims, mag ride suspension, illuminated door sills, 2nd gen front splitter, a power sun roof, and a few other things. After much debate, decided on the 10 speed auto, which comes with paddle shifters. I've had more manuals (by choice) in my life than automatics, and decided it was time to get an auto.

I was really considering a convertible but fear that would probably cause me allergy hell. About every ride last year I had an allergy issues for a few days, it seemed like anyway. So I figured a hard top with sun roof would be a fair compromise and if I find I'm having allergy issues just not use it.

Unfortunately I don't have it yet, and it'll probably be a couple months before delivery. I can't wait though, need a new vehicle my old little truck needs some work.

Thanks DR, can't wait. My first car was a 79 Camaro, which I've always missed since losing it. This will be much faster and generally better at everything. I was surprised how similar in feel the cockpit size was to what I remember my old Camaro.

They call it Vivid Orange Metallic. I've always liked the sunburst orange, in fact looked at a Gen 4 Camaro a few years ago that was sunburst orange.

I've been wanting a new car for a while. I was just getting interested in Ford's Taurus a few years ago, I liked how they looked, and have had good runs with Ford. Then they discontinued it. So I started looking at Impalas. And they discontinued that. So I started look at Toyota Avalons... discontinued. Every time little things would arise that would push me off buying. And I could probably say something similar today, with the economy's foundation being about as solid as a sandy beach.

But I'm tired of missing out, and really do need something. And this something is gonna be pretty cool!

Unfortunately the deal for the '23 fell through. The dealer never got an allocation, at least in the time frame I needed and then they kept saying this and that option is now unavailable (on constraint is the term used). I couldn't even get the car I ordered now if they could order it.

I bought a used Cadillac for the time being, and I love it! It's a few years old, but in very good condition. No rust any where, a few paint chips and scratches here and there but the door jams, trunk area, and hood all great condition. Leather's in nice condition. Car was definitely cared for. Good car fax too, no wrecks, and consistent oil changes.

I asked the dealer to give me a call when they start ordering 24s. I'm not sure one way or the other at this point, or if they even will. Since I have a 2nd, reliable vehicle now, I'm almost kind of leaning towards a Vette.

I'm partial but you really can't go wrong with the c8. Buddy of mine just took delivery of his zo6 and that thing is bad to the bone. Even the base models have exceptional value and performance for the money.

Yeah, the Vettes are definitely super sweet and everything you say is very true. I can't imagine someone spending $70k+ on a Camaro ZL1 instead of getting a $70k Vette. Maybe a 50k Camaro. But if I were spending $70k+ for a sports car, Vette wins hands down, even if the ZL1 would likely be faster accelerating.

I tell you what I'm almost tempted to get a new Caddy. I'm loving this thing. But I'm not a fan of the turbocharged eco engines they're putting in everything now. Usually I buy something I buy to keep, maintain it, drive it, until the wheels fall off and I just don't hear good things about the eco-turbo engines.

Mines a CTS Luxury. 3.0 V6, 270 HP it's pretty peppy. Got a lot of torque, spun the wheels a bit just pulling out and getting on it a little the other morning. To be fair, it was probably a combination of turning along with some throttle and maybe cooler roads. Still I never gave it the beans but it goes along just fine at 1/4 throttle. But I really just enjoy cruising in the thing... I don't really want to go fast. My old Ranger which is pretty much a beater, I drive it because it's a vehicle and faster than walking and less shit than a horse. This ... I really enjoy driving it.

Not overly concerned with fast car, I got the 14R covering that territory you know, and unless a car has somewhere around 000hp not much for something like a 14R.

Nice video Grn. I happened to catch that recently and was shocked...but not shocked? Yes, for many years we have heard what Dough Demuro is saying... China is coming for us (economically). Well, this is the truth. And indeed the rest is mostly ropaganda.

TO be fair Teslas have had their firey issues but I'm sure nothing along the lines of Chinese made cars. I love lithium batteries, but hopefully we'll find something better pretty soon that like most "eco-friendly" alternatives isn't eco-friendly at all.

China's the world's largest refiner of lithium. We have the biggest lithium deposits in the world.Go figure.
China's using coal fired plants to mine the ore and such.Building something like 9 a week...probably less...but a lot.And we happily support Chinese trade like it's no deal.Wish these companies would bind together and stop all imports from china.

It sucks because you and I and I think most people HERE have some idea of this stuff happening. It's 10-20 million more Americans that need to be exposed to this stuff to help steer them towards having an understanding greater than what they're being fed by MSM/far left/socialists.

We also need to cancel any chinese land buy from here on out and institute "eminant domain" and expropriate their asses.Part of their payment for covid-19.
China is really VERY screwed up with their economy. They're trying to make the chinese yen or whatever it is as the worldwide top currency. These guys are ruthless and ignorant. But very calculating.Ask any young person.....

I liked the apartment building that is their stock market investments. That guy's website shows how the chinese live in that cancer filled air they breath. Cheep out and loophole everything they do. Killer dog food. Toothpaste filled with industrial waste.

The yen is propped up by empty apartment complexes? I loved it when Smokey Yunick said they were a smart people once you get them out of the jungle. Beware!

You guys probably seen oscrewtubers that are living in china, and at least a couple years ago, they were able to post some videos of these ghost zones/towns China builds. In some cases entire cities were built, many buildings incomplete, much of it garbage construction but this was to (artificially) boost China's GDP.

Great points and of course I agree with them... we need the commies and socialists OUT and MAGA in.
