Hello from West Oz
11/04/15 6:38 AM

Hi,
I've been lurking around here for a while drooling over ya bikes and reading lots of info, very informative.
I currently have an 08 Suzuki GSX650F(town bike), 87 GPZ900 in great condition, 96 ZX9R(yes I know their getting old but I just can't seem to get rid of them) and an 09 KLR650 for the bush.
As I'm only going on 51 years young, I thought I should treat myself to another Kawasaki and I really like the ZX14.
Will this bike be ok for occasional 2 up riding, and how smooth is the engine, sorry I can't just pop in to a dealer for a test ride as I'm about 1000km from the next capital city.
After my mate telling me to buy a Hayabusa, I did consider them but I feel the mighty ZX14 will have more passenger leg room and be more comfortable, and well it is a Kawasaki after all so it must be better.
Thanks for looking and any advice would be muck appreciated.
Cheers

Smooth as electric and enough aftermarket to adapt it to fit the situation.

Lowfly, the Busa has a greater reach to the bars and is way more difficult to change that ratio. The ZX you can just pop a set of bar risers on it in 10 minutes. The ZX is very comfortable and very smoothe. My wife and I go 2-up a lot, through fast twisties and long rides. We use a Connie14 seat for long trips. And it's proven to be a pretty reliable machine as well. So, I say go for it and post pics here when you get one.

are you kidding? As good as it gets on a sportbike. I notice very little difference carrying a 200 lb passenger on my Gen1 14 so I'm sure you'll be happy with the power.

After my mate telling me to buy a Hayabusa, I did consider them but I feel the mighty ZX14 will have more passenger leg room and be more comfortable, and well it is a Kawasaki after all so it must be better.

I would say "better" if you're going with the Gen2 ZX-14. The Gen1 v busa are about the same. Al ot of people feel the 14's riding position is better. Personally, I think the separate passenger seat on the busa is better for 2 up but if you get a Tribo seat pillion seat cover for the 14, her butt will stick and she won't be sliding down onto you (if you don't want that ). I really feel the busa steering feels more neutral in cornering which is confidence inspiring but I have yet to notice myself cornering slower with my Gen1 ZX-14. IDK if you noticed the recent thread but we have another Aussie member who recently reported delivering a prodigious arse woopin' to a busa so if it's power you're after, go with the Gen2 14.

Smooth as electric sounds great EZX.
Do you happen to have a pic of the Connie seat on your bike Mad, I have also considered the Corbin with passenger back rest.
Thanks Rook, trying to get down to Perth at Xmas time to check out some bikes if I can get away from this prison they call work.

I have the Corbin with backrest and glovebox and works GREAT per passengers...and peace of mind for me too...if/when I really have to pass that camper in a hurry! Had an 84 900 Ninja too...another great bike, but these new ones are tons smoother, and dont even get me started on how much better the suspension and brakes are!

2013 ZX14R ABS, Red, Scorpion Serket Carbon slip ons, centerstand, Rizoma Mirrors, MRA DoubleBubble, Gen-Mar risers, Buell pegs, ThrottleMeister, GIVI V35, Corbin saddle, backrest and glovebox, Power Bronze Hugger, Radiator Guard...so far...

Welcome to the forum, there are many different comfort mods you can do with this bike. I have lowered both front and back, have bar risers, lowered footpegs, corbin seat, she rides like a tour bike, but with a bad attitude!

Actually Chrly that's Lake Almanor. Part of a 5 day trip through the Avenue of the Giants, out HWY 299 to Redding, across to Almanor then down to Tahoe for 2 days before going home over the Carson Pass on 88. A great trip. My wife made 2 videos with music. You can find them on "Ride Reports".

Welcome, I've had both. ZX14 to me at 6 foot and 105kg is a lot more comfortable. With the Hayabuse if you hit a bump or go hard on the brakes the pillion kept sliding onto my seat. With the ZX she stays put.
I found the Pillion on the Hayabusa to be leaning more against me where as on the ZX she sits more comfortable thus less leaning on me.

Life begins at 40.......The fun starts at 240.
Now riding 2014 ohlins ZZR 1400, Z 750, GPZ1100ZX, ZZR1100, Hayabusa, GSXR1000, 2009 ZX14 special edition.

Thanks untamed,
finally got to try one out last Wednesday mate, bloody awesome bike, even the wife like it(loved it).
Looking at a 2012 from dealer with about 12000km on it, green beast and like new condition.
Unfortunately I'm busy with looking after my father who had a bad turn over Christmas and may not last for more than a few days so the bike has been put on the back burner for the time been.
Love the bike and will join you lucky guys soon.
Thanks

Hi lowfly, from the opposite coast, would appear were going thru the same choices all be it on the opposite side of the continent. Sorry to hear about your Father mate, not an easy time I'm sure. Be interesting to see what we both end up with. Guessing you,ll be ahead of me tho, I've got a KTM to sell first. Enjoyed the south coast of W.A. A couple of years back 2 up with the Mrs, Bunbury all the way round to the Stirling Ranges. Awesome trip.

Ok guy's
unfortunately my father passed away on the 3rd of this month so I have been busy with plans and family etc.
The bike I was looking at has sold, so I will have to wait again to find another mint one.
I had a pic of this bike and showed it to him before he went back into hospital, his response was, I bet the fucking goes like the clappers.
