Thanks for the suggestions.. i actually tried scratchx as well as plasticx and it worked good but not good enough to remove completely. In any case i returned that one and have this one on order.. i didnt like how it was so lightly tinted and the new one will be darker and match my existing windscreen that much better:

Kewl .. yeah, I thought your clear one looked too much like an add-on. Tinted should tie together better with the main screen

That is amazing they can sell that thing that cheap. Slave labor I guess. That said ... I look forward to seeing yours so I can decide if I need one too!

Hey DoubleD, Do you have some different handlebars than stock? They seem more like Concours bars, I've been wondering about fitting them on my '07.

Guys I may be the 2nd or 3rd oldest rider here. Just won a award at the BMW Pine Mountain rally for being the oldest rider in attendance at 77 & 8 months. This being said I recently came back to the ZX14 fold with a 2012 ZX14R. This is my 3rd ZX14. The bike came to me well equipped but I need a more upright position. The bike has Buell pegs so the leg position is fine. It also came with a set of 3/4" heli risers which were not installed. I installed these and they helped but my neck still gets cramped (old neck injury and arthritis in my neck) on all day rides. I bought a second set of Heli blocks but have not installed yet. I don't see why they won't work stacked with some other minor modifications and are easy & quick to remove when I take the bike to the drag strip. The bike came to me with a Puig windscreen which works well for me and is high quality. Any thoughts on the stacked Heli's or alternatives?

I remember reading about at least a couple other guys on here that double stacked risers, and don't remember hearing anything negative about it. Of course you need to make sure your brake (and clutch?) lines are long enough; I installed the usual 1 set and my brake line is pretty close to being too short, but it does make it Been quite a while since I installed mine so I'm going from memory, and even at 'only' 51 that's a questionable proposition!

The only thing I need to double stack the Heli spacers is four M8 X 1.25 X 100mm shouldered stainless steel bolts. I could not find them locally so I ordered them online. The Heli kit contained a longer mount bolt and spacer for relocating the clutch clutch line on the lower triple tree to give extra line length to the clutch handle. I did not use this when I mounted the single 3/4" spacers and there was no problem. If this relocation works I am home free. Probably be a week or two before I get around to trying this. I will report back the result.

I think double-stacking 3/4" risers should be fine. I double-stacked Heli 3/4" with a 1.25" riser and that caused rubbing issues with the windscreen at full left lock so I re-routed the throttle lines underneath so they didn't rub up against the windscreen anymore. Here is that process if needed:

Doubled-stacked 1" GenMar spacers. I think it is enough for most Riders.

Using Convertibars Kit really brought the bars backwards and about anothet inch higher. I only needed a longer brake hose.

Those clip-on wind screens work worse than my taller screen solution. I tested my traveling setup to 125mph.

The real solution is a screen that is as wide as the plastic fairing. The stock size (width) screen does not keep Bugs off your shoulders.

That is the problem of raising the handle bars, I get too far way from the still pocket of air.

Tkn99. I know (I may have a link) a fellow who stacked the risers. I believe you would need new lines, then. I have owned a 07, 08, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and now a 16. Cannot break the addiction, and I have tried. With 70 right around the corner and 100s of thousand of miles in a saddle, my hand starts to tingle when I walk by my bike, but hey, that’s life. I have a 40 something friend who has opted to have surgery, twice. Only made things worse.
FYI, many items are interchangeable between gen-1 and gen-2. Just check the oem IPB part numbers.
I personally like the stock pegs and no risers. Buts that’s me.
The biggest improvement is in the seat. I have tried just about everything possible. On a trip from the west coast to the east coast and back, I stopped at Walmart and got an atv pad. Did wonders. I find the Saddlemen Seat w/gel channel to be the most comfortable, for me anyway. I now have a Corbin and I am going to try to break it in. I hear once you have them broke in, they are great, but it take 20 years to do it.
One of these days I will follow DoubleD

Oh, by the way. A few years ago I made several sets of outlet brackets, and gave them away on the forum. I have placed an order to have a couple dozen sets made. It has been a week and I imagine it will take another week.
Once I get them, I will have them powdered coated. Then they will be up for grabs. Again they will be offered at the low low price of free. First come ...here is a photo

I just turned 68, so stop whining about being old. I don't make anything more comfy, I just bear the pain and take Advil. Sorta like Burt Munro in Fastest Indian. LOL

ZX I would definitely like a set of those custom made outlet brackets.

apex not whining just trying to make adjustments for the inevitable compromises age requires. Ha, ha there is a big difference between 68 & 78 wait and see.

Hello again:
Well, the brackets arrived today from the fabricator and are powdered coated the same black as the frame.
I had 32 singles/16 sets made.

4 people have contacted me for the brackets.

If you are interested in a set or single get in touch with me!

No cost.

Larry thanks for making these, I am definitely in for a pair and have no problem paying for them. I sent you a PM saying the same.

No problem
To those that requested a set: I am putting them in the mail today, if you gave me an address.

To all: I have many still available, just let me know.
For those that feel they need to pay/contribute: a Starbucks gift card is good, but not required.

you will need longer bolts, full thread. If the bike is stock you will need a M8-1.25 x 50mm for the Front and a 55mm for the rear. The bars are thicker in the rear, but aren’t we all. If you add risers you will need to increase the length. 3/4” risers = 20mm and 1” = 25mm, if my conversion is correct. You will needs locking nuts and washers.

My very first setup I did I used a 3 circuit harness from eastern beaver (great guy and products). I since ordered all the components from Him and build my own to meet my design parameters. I use a flattened mirror clip to attach the fuse cluster to the back of the instrument cluster. I run a ground wire to the structural part, because it is isolated and is not grounded. I then run all my circuit ground wires to bar. Nice and tidy. Does not interfere with the windscreen. Easy to access if I blow a fuse. Which I never do. Limited number of wires to run. Easy to hook up the outlets.

In this photo you can see the keyed relay at the bottom, the ground wires at the right center and the three circuits to the left. I have not finished tucking them in. I will be making three more circuits for some friends, so I did not tuck it all in. The top wire goes to my radar detector. The other two are fore the outlets.

I thought about a bluesea marine grade fuse box for future circuits (heated grips and whatever). With this setup of running the hot, ground and relay up first, I can swap out the three mini fuses for a mini fuse box in just a few minutes.

zxadventure sent me two of these power outlet brackets, so first thanks to him. They are very well made and will suit my need for 12VDC power perfectly. I will be sending a Starbucks gift card along shortly, hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Stewart

FYI: I have been purchasing my circuit needs from Eastern Beaver and NAPA! I just found the same stuff now on Amazon at 1/10th the price and free 2 day shipping! I have several 14 friends across the country and I get tasked with building the same setup for all of them. It is nice having the 12vdc outlet ran through a keyed relay and the usb hot. I often leave my wireless earphone plugged in when I stop for lunch or a photo break! It is great having the radar detector hardwired, no more plug sticking up and popping out! Plus I use the visual alert radar led lights attached to the windscreen! Fantastic setup

Been using Eastern Beaver for many years. Great supplier but but you get what you pay for which is very high quality.
I have so many connectors and parts from him I can do practically any MC wiring project. Thanks again for the excellent brackets.

I think I am pretty qualified to chime in on this thread, lol. The bike was too painful to ride stock as I have had disc issues. Too far forward and bad hip /knee angle in stock trim.

I see DoubleD has many of these mods.

I started off with 2 sets of blackpath risers and Knight design pegs. The fottpegs are a must for hip pain.

Graduated to the LSL system with 2inch ( yes 2 inch) Rox risers with the LSL triple bar. You do not need to fit new brake lines, just bend the metal brake line carefully.

The throttlemeisters were added with a 6mm nut insert into the LSL tubular bar.

With the Rox riser you can move the bar 2 inches in any direction ( in an arc obviously).

Added a saddlemen Gel 2 up seat and Ohlins TTX shock with Hydraulic preload. Forks tuned by johnn Sharrad .

1 level

with rox risers

Added Givi euro screen with Saeng edging.( had Zero gravity touring but it was cheap and ugly)

I added Removable Sw Motech side racks which fit any size Givi bags for travelling.

Look at the rider triangle. Www.cycle-ergo.com. forward lean 39 degrees, knee 75 is pathetic. I am 5' 10"

Almost as bad as A panigale v4 in forward lean.

Compare the old zx-11 (1993) to the 14R and the stock rider triangle is very aggressive.

Lost 30 pounds with the Brocks full system and 9 on the lifo battery.

I love torque so after all these mods I not switching unless a 1400 supercharged comes out. Bike is flashed by Ivan and I still get 400KM to tank at highway speed.

Currently estimate the bike to be at forward lean of 25 Degrees, knee angle 80, hip 69 degrees!
