GTPP x-tended Warranty Info?
05/13/09 7:41 PM

I am posting this hoping that some questions maybe answered and some opinions shared about the Pros/Cons of the extended warranty from Kawasaki Motors called the Good Times Protection Plan...

I received my letter stating my year was about up and if I want to Extend my warranty coverage then it will cost:

1Year=$429
2Year=$484
3Year=$594
4Year=$704

Also, who knows what modifications can be gotten by with, before KHI will not honor the warranty??

The coverage states that it has Unlimited mileage protection, no deductible fees, and transferable if you sale or trade...

It also states that they will not pay if :the use of replacement parts or accessories not conforming to Kawasaki specifications which adversely effect performance and/or durability;
alterations or modifications,not reccommended or approved in writing by Kawasaki

So by these statements is a slip-on and a PCIII, etc. going to void your warranty??

I dunno, but if they say "no prob", get it in writing.

I'm keeping my '08 completely stock if I go for the warranty. Never bought one before, everyone says it's a bad bet (including the text I used to teach consumer econ, LOL), but I still may do it for this one.

Just save your stock parts and reinstall them before taking it to the dealer (when the motor blows).

4 yr extended warranty - $390 US only, except FL.

And make sure you keep good maintenance records

Cyclejunkie,
was that an auction conducted by GTPP or was it someone trying to transfer a warranty???

If it is GTPP, that's a big difference in price for the same 4 yrs.

Minerman, Fremont Motors has been selling these for years.

If you go to their Ebay store, they are always available. http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Fremont-Motors_Factory-Extended-Warranties_W0QQ_fsubZ19QQ_sidZ118843089QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

They are an authorized dealer. They just don't make as much profit on the warranties, in hopes maybe you'll buy other items from them(I'm guessing). Gives you an idea of the mark up on these

I don't have any personal experience with them, but they do have excellent feedback (100% for over 5yrs).

Maybe someone in the Colorado area is familiar with them?

I just bought the 48 month extended warranty off Ebay from Fremont Motorsports (budmankawa123) for the $375 Buy It Now price. I did check through Google and found some other Kawi dealers selling online, but not as cheap as this.

When I had my GTPP x-tended warranty transferred in to my name, I asked the dealer, the owner...not some saleman, if adding pipes and/or PCIII would void the warranty and he said point blank.....NO!!!

I have been at a dealership where a Honda rep showed up to check/approve warranty work on a 1000RR that had carbon build up on valves problem. The bike had full aftermarket exhaust and PC3 in plain sight, and the rep didn't even blink. He approved the work and left it at that.

Also, if you do add aftermarket modifications, they can not refuse your warranty service unless they can prove the modifications you did caused the problems. In fact, in the auto world, I know of people who approve the warranty work even when they know some aftermarket modification caused the problem, simply due to the trouble they have to go through to prove it caused the problem.

I got the warranty but mainly for electrical and/or serious engine problems (throwing a rod, gear box failure, etc.)... I don't think Kawasaki can ignore a gear box claim due to a PC3 installation or an aftermarket slip on.

I purchased a 3 year when I bought my 08, so nothing will go wrong with for 3 years. Isn't that how it works ?

I have been having problems with getting a credit. My 06 was totaled in May 08 and they wouldn't transfer to my new 07 and they still haven't sent me a check or credit. I haven't bought one on the 07 yet.

I bought the 3 year extended warranty on my busa online...got it mega cheap from a suzi dealership back east I believe. Never did need it. I skipped it on my 14. I think as long as you're buying a reputable machine, with a pretty solid model line history, the one year factory warranty should cover anything that pops up. And if it don't pop up within the first year, you're usually good to go
