Very good tire, much longer lasting than the M1's, a real sport tire.
Although tires do not seem to last long on the 14, I'm running dual compound sport touring type tires now. Dunlop street smarts, Michelin road 2's are good also. Near 5k on my Dunlop’s now and looking to go further.

Dunlops? which ones? i never even considered Dunlops cause in the past on my zx9 have not had good treadlife with them.

I know with the sportbikes you replace a rear tire every season. but the 014 on my zx14 is gone only after 3000 mi id like to get at least 5k out of a tire especilly at $300 for front and back

Dunlop Street Smarts is what they are called, dual tread compound on the rear. Don't forget that they are a sport touring type, but I never had issues with slipping and have gone right to the edge at deals gap with these.
Got 5k on them and look to go even more.

I had the M3's on my last bike (BMW K1200S), and liked them alot. I had them on for about 2000 miles before I traded the bike off for my ZX14. Those 2000 miles consisted mostly of a trip to Deals Gap from Illinois, which included alot of freeway slabbing to get to some curves. While in N.C. and Tennesee in the twisties, they never once slipped on me, not even a little. I rode through a lot of rain one day, and they seemed to hold very well in those conditions too. After the 2000 miles, the rear was just barely starting to square off. I'd guess I would have gotten around 4000 miles if i would have kept them till the end. I'd buy them again, but this time I decided to try the BT016's, which I also like very well. Hated the stock BT014s, as most people I think do.

silver how r the 016's holding up for you? they are considerably cheaper than the m3's

They're doing OK....I'd guess the rear will be shot at somewhere around 3000-3500 miles. They currently have about 2000 on them and the rear is flat spotted noticeably, but still has a good amount of tread left. Grip-wise, I'm very happy with the 016's. As far as wear goes, they are pretty average among supersport tires. I'll probably put them on again, but I have thought about giving the Metzeler M3's a spin on this bike.

Any of you newer "BIGBORE" sportbike riders (owners) out there (ZX-14, ZX-12r, Busa etc.). You are in a whole new ballpark now. When you have big torque and big horsepower, tires wear fast, very fast. So 2500 to 3000 miles is about average. Any less your riding like a sissy.

yea bud im beginning to realize that...lol guess the question is which tire is going to give you more bang for the buck and be a quality tire worthy of these beasts

I think it depends on your riding, the stocks are not dual compound so they are fairly soft all round.... I do mostly straight riding out here unless I head out west to the hills or south west to the highwood pass, so personally I use a sport touring tire with a harder compound the bt021 and it seems to have slowed the square off and they are fairly inexpensive.... 7000km on my bike and have gone through 2 rear stocker's and now onto a new set 21's.... only 3000km for each rear tire for the bt014.....

I averaged about 2200 miles out of the eraser soft BT-014 rears on my 14....and about the same with the Bridestones on my busa....the Avon Storm on the 14 is going to double that no prob. I'm going to stick with the storms and Pilot Road 2's for my bikes from here on out I think
