I had TechSpec on my ZX14, and now I have it on my Concours 14.

I didn't like the middle tank part (where your belt is) so I cut a spare tank pad and put it up against the provided pad, above it, between it and the filler cap. Now I don't have to worry about my belt.

I prefer the SnakeSkin, it is the thickest material they sell, and looks really good.

I just now got a set for the tops of my side cases, since we tend to marr the tops getting on and off.

TechSpec even made me a custom pad for my ZX14. I sent them a tracing and they made it to order, for not much more than the cost of a stock tank pad.

There isn't anything better than TechSpec. It looks good, will stop a big belt buckle from marring the tank, and it lasts forever.

Even the Geelong protector, as sexy as it is, will abrade and eventually (in a year or two) delaminate and need to be replaced.

Based on what I'm seeing for the OEM Kawasaki pads in Europe, the TechSpec items are also less expensive.

About $60. Not sure about shipping or VAT or freaking US customs though

I e-mailed Kawasaki USA, and this is what they said :

Thank you for contacting Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. Kawasaki operates independently from country to country. We do not have the ability to obtain parts from outside the United States.

I'm like WTH ? you cant get a KAWASAKI part that is in the UK ?

No Pegscraper, we don't have these items in the USA. They did offer a tank protection package through 2010 but I don't believe it is still offered. Too much competition from the aftermarket I suspect.

I'm not sure just yet...he needs to e-mail me back and let me know the shipping. At this point...about 60 US dollars(for the pads).I wanted to pay with a card..as they 'opted'...but I'm supposed to send an e-mail about payment...so....(which I responded to)...IDK yet what's going on.Says it takes 1 or 2 days to get a response back(from his e-bay store or whatever it is...cradley kawasaki)....we'll see...I think they look very good.Sweet 3-D effect on there;)Almost looks like the tank was stamped doesn't it?Cool.

Here is what the guy at that auction sent me as for shipping and total cost:
..................
"Hi, £38GBP is approximately $62USD. Standard shipping is £9.95, Royal Mail International Signed For is £14.95, so you're either looking at a total of roughly $77USD or $85USD depending on you're preferred shipping method. I don't think there is any way that we can send you an invoice in dollars though should you decide to purchase. Regards, parts dept.

- cradleykawasaki"
....................
But it looks as though *someone* has bought em all, already!!!!!!!!

:o)

I don't like that part about US authorities, i.e. Customs .......

I asked about customs, because if they dont put the right code or whatever, you will get hit with customs (basically more Freaking taxes, like they arent ripping us off bad enough now !).

I dont think customs wuld be that much on a $60 item, but I dont like not knowing what I am getting in too, I'm getting ready to buy a $650 helmet soon, but no one overseas can tell me for sure if I will get hit with the customs tax, the same helmet over here is like $990 with tax ...
