Just updating everyone...
07/03/09 12:06 AM

Sorry, I know its been awhile since I've posted here. Been recovering well. I haven't posted because I went out and bought an 2009 G8 GT. In my mind I kept thinking that I would always be too paranoid to ride again. So I dumped the though of ever riding again and got that car to play with. Car is fun, I really like it.

So I went to the Bike shop the other day to talk to some old friends. When I was a Drill Sgt, if I got like an hour to take a break or something, I would stop in there and talk to some guys. Of course they were glad to see me. Then it hit me. I say a Black Monster ZX14. Well, all I can say is all those feelings of not wanting to ride went away. I wanted so bad just to sit on one, but I'm still not to the point where I could do that.

So the black ZX14 and a yellow R1 had me dreaming of riding again. I can't wait till I recover completly. I told my wife that I wouldn't even try riding till I get to 100% of my recovery. Maybe this fall or Spring I'll be there.

Just a compilation of the News clips they did on me. I thank God I'm still here, and I tank God that I want to ride again.

Hi select20 good to see that your still with us , don't rush back to the bike it isnt worth it, do it in your own good time.
I Was hit by a car in a head on last year , lady lost control of her Nissan and ran onto the wrong side of the road.
My bike looked like yours, insurance gave me a new one.
Spent 2 months in a wheel chain, still waiting for my left foot and knees to come good , have ridden a little but the joy of rideing isn't there like it was.

I thank God I'm still here and that you are too !

Alright Select!VERY GLAD to hear you're healing up fine.I thank God as well that He's performing this miracle for you!!Ride or No ride-makes no real difference.Do what ya feel about that.Life's got it's seasons.Everything changes when it's supposed to IMO.Just like "riding habits".I don't ride like I used to-the way I first did when I got my 14.It's not the be all,end all to ride or not.And doesn't prove a thing trying to force something to happen-like "getting back on a 14".I'd be cautious as well-so don't worry about whether you do or don't.-that's how I feel anyway.I've kept you in my prayers Select-and that's just Great News you're getting better!Stay strong Bro-If you're supposed to ride, you will-doesn't HAVE to be a 14,right?Take care now-God Bless always!!!

Dude, I'm just glad you're ok enough to even be having this dialog with us goofballs. We all love to ride, but I bet most of us would admit that *maybe* there are more important things in this world. :)

If you ride again, that's great, if you don't only you need to know why - I'll bet you've seen a lot more clearly than most of us what the "real" priorities in this life are.

Anyway, great to see you up and around and thinking about riding.

-Dennis

Sarg,

I read an article that showed a high rate of deaths of how many military are coming home, jumping on bikes and just need a little street savvy training to survive.

I'd drill some skills into them is give them half a chance.

Yesterday, the back end came out a touch and I caught it, making a simple turn. It may have been oil, gas or my tire. I don't know how I stayed upright. Maybe instinct corrected for me. Must be the hours sitting on one.

Let that passion fill the heart, select. Life is short and one assumes you will wreck? Maybe you might never crash again. One just does not know is predict and it will kick you in the pants is cover both ends.

I am more comfortable on a bike than in a car and on that seat. I have a plush ride if not smoother than driving. There is plenty of time getting back on a bike. Only your body will tell you when. You can push the healing process so much.

Everyday you get closer and closer. Listen to yourself for direction, select.

Really glad you are recovering your health !

Maybe you can hold off until 2011, and get a hydrogen-fuel bike. Just kidding !

I'm new, and just hearing your story is a serious reality check. I'm glad to hear you are still with us, and that you have such a strong family to support you. You are so young that even if you don't ride for many years to come... you will still have plenty of time to enjoy it for many more.

All the best.

I said it before and I'll say it again. You can't kill a drill sergeant. Your the man. Good luck and get back on when you can. I hope they caught the D-bags who screwed up your house!
