Thoughts
11/23/13 12:26 PM

I'm sitting here...and have some time off...back to work tomorrow.I've been thinking on the 14R.How much different it really is from 1st Gens. This is my second 14R.I wringed out my 07 fairly well I thought.Maybe not.But I tried.

When I 'upgraded' to the 14R...I had no idea what to expect. She most definitely surpassed my ideas on the 'new 14'.I immediately fell in love with the solid and sharp handling response. But there was more. The cruisability of this new model totally overwhelmed me...the planted feel..the lack of vibration..the powering up and shifting. All came into one awesome package of reliability. She's a dragger..I know this.Made for ripping the competition...which she does very nicely.Proven...a winner. But the street manners I had to have....something big...strong...powerful...yet mild on the overall.I enjoyed the factory model...very much.I didn't expect to do any modding at all...she felt sweet...smooth...big.I can remember riding home one day..feeling the suspension...soaking up the bumps..and rolling smooth.Just so cool...nothing needed here.THEN...the flashes began coming out...I had to see how these were.It sounded so simple...no pC...just through the ECU.I had to try it...I added Piping and exhaust.Normally, this would be the end of street modding...gain some HP,some TQE.But it wasn't the end.I took a 'chance' on some lighter wheels.I want to say....these mods have transformed a super bike into a radical watch yer ass motorcycle. For as big as she is...she doesn't feel anything like a 'big bike'....I'ts truly amazing what these mods have done to this awesome bike.....yet the 'bigness' is still there...assuring me that she's capable and safe.Safe...yes...so much more feeling than the stock config...if that's possible.Safe....secure...fast....flickable.This bike is the top of the line...so unique...so personal.Coming time to put her away for the winter...I don't want to...She beckons to ride...to blast...to push...And I'm here...wanting to...and struggling with my "better judgement'....;)...this bike will take you to the pinnacle of riding fast and hard...and drop you to the emergency room within seconds...she's that tempermental...but feeling your ride...and listening to her speak...there's none other out there that'll do this...NONE.She talks..she cautions...she warns...truly a superbike indeed...

I find myself...longing...wanting...to go ride.I say "okay, this run you'll take er easy...enjoy the coolness of your 14R"...and then...I'm off...riding...and feeling the power. And my resolve goes so away....I'm running up through the gears...powering as never before...pushing....shifting...gassing....and I'm back where i started from.....wanting to feel the beast...again....God help me...I'm forever compelled to rail....

The only thing that counts is what you get out of a ride. Everything else is b.s. Anything that adds to that is positive and anything that takes away is negative.

It's a MotoCentric / Mototrek sport tailbag from Motorcycle Superstore.
