Bike Wrecked in Parking Lot :( Frame repairable?
06/22/17 11:24 PM

So a month ago I was volunteering at an event and at the end of the event while I was helping cleaning up a vendor hit my bike coming out of the parking lot. The damage did not seem too severe but it did bend the kickstand or so I thought. I ordered a new kickstand and today I planned on putting it back on so I could drive it to the dealer and get a quote for her insurance. Well This is what I found:

This was the condition of the bolts.

I thought that the broken piece was from a plate that bolts to the frame but it actually is the frame itself :(

So what are people's thoughts? The funny thing is that I had just checked those bolts a few months ago when I redid my sprocket and chain. Is there a way to rebuild that hole?

Here are the other shots.
Moments after the wreck. Some awesome dude actually chased the lady down because she started to drive off after she hit it. God I am so happy he did. I am going to need to buy him lunch sometime :)

Main Damage side

Hurt Exhaust( I thought this was going to be the most expensive part of the repair.) I think I was wrong.

There were other scrapes. I really did not think it was going to be that bad until I found the broken frame point.

man that crack looks like it runs around behind the mounting point! That is gonna be one fix i dont know if I want welded, and if so not by just anybody. The bolt hole will need to be retapped if you can get that frame fixed. I wouldn't be doing to much riding until you get it checked by a professional shop.

That seems odd to have parking lot damage to both sides of the bike and double odd to have a cracked frame especially on the side bike the bike didn't fall on. The driver certainly KNEW she hit the bike! My guess is she partially drove over it or else the kickstand wedged on her bumper and hung for a second before it fell.

I am pretty sure that is an engine mount. The IC will total her for you which means you get a check for couple thousand for the bike and hopefully all aftermarket junk replaced. There could be more wrong with it you have not found yet.

Ouch! If it's not already into the mount hole flange it will grow in the future. Hard to say from just a pic but looks like the frame is compromised. The kickstand is a good strong lever and impact load from the bitch could have easily applied 1500-2000 lb-ft of torque to the mounting bolts interface depending on the speed the bitch hit the bike at.

Unfortunately I agree with the Rookester, any shop is probably say the frame is buggered and insurance is gonna total her. I was lucky and Geico gave me high book value for my '06 and I used it to buy the BBW.

Good lunch, hope it works out for ya
