Loss of power?
05/12/12 11:55 AM

Noticed my bike just does not feel like it has the power it once had. Thought it was me just getting used to it but now I'm not so sure. When I first got it, it would pull like crazy above 3500rpm sliding you back on the seat and the front would start to lift but now you can hammer it and no pull until 6000rpm+ and even then it's no where near what it once was. Any idea what could cause this loss of power. The bike has a Ti-Force full exhaust, BMC air filter, Power Commander and TRE all of which was on the bike when I bought it. I have put about 2000 miles on the bike so far. The only glitch I have noticed was one time the shift indicator showed it was in 1st for about 3 miles and then went back to 6th like normal with the TRE. It hasn't done that since.

Just changed the oil about 500 miles ago but I'll check it again. I switched from whatever synthetic the previous owner had in it to Mobile 1. He had the dealer put synthetic in it but was unsure of what brand used. I have noticed way more missed shifts since going to Mobile 1. Thought about giving Amsoil a try.

Went from Non-synthetic to Amsoil then switched back to non-synthetic (valve cover leak). Now I'm on Motul full synthetic and the shifting is great. I feel it was a tad better with Amsoil and will go back to that. I think you will like it.

Have you had the bike during the Summer yet or is this your first Summer with the bike? We're down a real 10-15 horsepower in July/August vs the Winter months and early spring and it's been beyond stupid hot this year. Just wondering if that might be your power loss as it is a real measurable power loss.

How can you tell if the TRE is bad? It is still showing that it is in 6th gear all the time. Just currious, if you get the PC-V can you eliminate the TRE and have the same effect. I saw where you can tune each gear with it. Right now I have the PC-III on the bike.

I went from Mobile 1 to Amsoil and haven't had a missed shift since. Much smoother.
