From a 14R to a 14?
04/09/17 10:37 AM

Sold mine and regret it all the time. Problem is I already have a Superduke 1290, Bandit 1250 and 919 to run so I was wondering if the cheapest way to get 14 power would to be to go back to an older 14. My 14 was stock except for an Ivan flash. If I gear a 14 down a little and did some exhaust work I'd be right there wouldn't I? What else besides TC might I miss?

With a Guhl flash you miss ~20 HP and increased torque associated with the flash and the R, even though its heavier it handles better.

Be the first to put a Gen2 engine in a Gen1! ...or go with a turbo. Any way you slice it, the Gen2 will be step ahead with the same mods.

Ok fine. But I'm waiting for a really good deal on a used one though that's already been modded

Last time I was here the jury was out on the getting power from the 2016's and if they are down on power, or if they can be flashed. Any news?

Also, I never geared mine down because I didn't want to screw with the TC, if I went up 3 in the back instead does that cause problems?

Perception of power I really doubt you'd really tell much. Unless you constantly race people or something you riding yourself probably won't notice other than the 14R having the broader power delivery.

In fact the 14 might even hvae a small aspect I always found fun about super sports, a little less on the bottom side which accentuates the top. Hitting that power band gives a rush. I'll insist the 14R is not missing it, it's just that the bike's power band starts at 4k rpm so just don't feel the "zing" come on.

Is that the 4-2-1 or Evo Ti system? Or both?

Or do they even have two systems?
