Wow you might be unable to find faceshields without UV protection these days.
I have photochromatic lenses or whatever they are called, so my glasses darken automatically. And they have some UV built into the lense material. So when I ride, if its really bright, I push the lever on my C3 and the dark inner visor slides down. That seems to be enough.
Back in the day, when there was not a world wide web, motorcycle geeks hung out in netnews aka uucp aka usenet, which was basically a client on your desktop computer that connects to a news server, and downloads messages in the topic you are subscribed to. The news servers had a hierarchy by which a new message posted locally would get propogated all over the world in seconds. It was rocket science at the time.
The motorclists' main netnews group was rec.motorcycle and eventually there was also a rec.motorcycle.harleydavidson.
One time I got a new pair of polarized sunglasses with UV block etc. and was posting about wearing them inside my Shoei helmet. You would not believe the rash of shite I took because all those old-school guys thought wearing sunglasses inside a full face helmet was a very bad thing. Turns out in an accident, those sun glasses cut your face up quite often.
Well, heck, I guess I knew that. At the time, I wore contact lenses when I rode. And tinted shields in the late 80s and early 90s weren't too effective.
Now I wear glasses and I guess I'll just have to not crash.
