4300.00 per year to insure?????
05/21/14 2:18 PM

Just called not so "Progressive" for insurance quote.....they told me for 500.00 deductible and full coverage.....$4300.00 per year!!!! I said....hang on a minute. I have been riding bikes for 40 years....never had a wreck, retired Air Force, never wrecked a car, took both MOST courses when I was younger blah blah blah. Flo said....sorry, it is a "hyper bike". That is crazy....anyone recommend another insurance company?

Call State Farm

liability here with State Farm. I'm 47. My 08 ZX-14 is $75/6 months and you can suspend when you are not using the bike for an extended period so 6 months actually goes a lot farther than just 6 months.

Just sent my check in for the 08 busa. $54.

I imagine they are sticking it to the 14r owners because the engine is 90cc bigger. hell they even upped the premium for a 12cc dif between the busa and the 14. Still the cheapest I've heard of and no problems making claims if you have any trouble (knock on wood).

faulty logic, basing premiums on the size of the engine. most people who sport ride will try a lot more dangerous stuff on a 600 and probably more often.

I use Geico, they're pretty good. I got full coverage on this one since my Busa was stolen from a company parking lot a couple years back. I know it's not mathematically sound, but I just don't think I could stand the heart break of that loss again.

I pay $546 a year with a $250 comprehensive deductible and $1,000 collision deductible - I figure good coverage for theft/vandalism and if I use the collision part of the policy I won't really care how much the deductible is...

State Farm doesn't really care what the bike is, they charge by the cc whether it's a sport bike or cruiser it's the same. Unless you're under 25, then they hose your ass.

I had progressive for almost 3 years. I was paying about 700 a year for full coverage on my 07. Now i am at the dealer and buying my 2012 the day after i sold my 07 and i call progressive to switch from the 07 to the 12 and the rep tells me 1450 for a year. I'm like WTF. So i had to switch it to drive it home and then i started to shop around. Over 40 no tickets. Ended up with Geico for about 960 year. Still outrageous in my opinion. 250/500 limits. For shits ann giggles i asked the guy how much it would be for a concours 14 and he said 450 for the same coverage. I guess its the price you pay to ride the fastest MC in the world!

I've had Geico for 11 years. They couldn't come close to State Farms rates. Pay more here in California. State Farm doesn't frown on zx14r.

I do $1000 deductibles and my 2012 ZX14r is 420/yr from Geico. However I was just quoted a better price with Progressive.
I am 40yrs old and as some of you remember my bike fell over in the driveway last year for a total of $3400 in damage. So did use my insurance... Also last year I got an 87 in a 65 ticket but it was reduced to a headlight infraction.

If you were in the military you can try USAA. I hear they kick ass on all rates.

$680 year geico ! I switched from State Farm cause they keep going up for no reason!! My 10R went from 480 to 1000 a year ! No tickets no wrecks and my vehicles were with State Farm won't go back to them period.
My car, truck and wife's SUV are with liberty mutual I pay 180/month for all three my wife's vehicle is the only full coverage.. They wouldn't insure my 10r cause it was high risk.. Haven't called for the 14R yet since it's a sport tourer ???

State Farm here too - $38.75 a month for full coverage with 1k deductible, $100/$300 limits and un/underinsured loser coverage.

When I was ZX14R shopping, I had all my numbers figured out and was almost scared to check with my insurance guy. If it was a lot of cash, that would have been a deal breaker. I was pleasantly surprised - doesn't hurt that I have 4 bikes, 2 cars, 2 trucks, and 2 houses covered by them.

I am a member of usaa. They don't directly insure bikes or watercraft or RV's. They use progressive as an underwriter. After a year with my 14r I switched to Geico. Much better price

Some of those insurance premiums are impressive, I'm here in Australia with Swann insurance paying $1200.00 per year, with the best possible rating and no age premium. Any other people in Australia with any better insurance quotes ?

Hey redimp. I just insured both my bikes for the first time ever. It was always crazy expensive even for the 07 ZX14, so I couldn't justify the cost. I just got full comprehensive insurance from Swann Insurance for $58 p/mnth for the 2013 ZX14R and $33 p/mnth for the 2007 ZX10R. Total = $1094 annual for both bikes. It made it much more appealing for over $30,000.00 worth of bikes, if they both got nicked.
