My big bike problem. Please help.

Hi all,

If you could just load up the bike and go, where would you go?

Which state or park , monument or attraction would you like to go see? Or is there a particular attraction the keeps you coming back again and again, and why?
There is a lot I'd like to go see and some things I have already seen but would like to go back to again, like Mt. Rushmore and the Grand Canyon, the Badlands of
South Dakota.

Big cities hold no attraction for me. I avoid them as much as possible. Often, to me, just out riding across the country on state highways, avoiding interstates, is the best part of the ride. I rode through a small Oklahoma town a few years ago. Flags and banners were all over the place and people were lining the streets. I was the only vehicle on the street. First thought is "How did they know I was coming?" but then the fire trucks, police car and floats came off a side street behind me and the parade began. They were celebrating the founding of their town. The parade had nothing to do with me.

Right now I'm wanting to ride West. The ride I'd like to do, and what I can afford are two different things right now, but if I could...northern New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, I'd like to go back to all of them. I love riding the western United States. There's still a lot I haven't seen.

Where do you want to ride?

Thanks
Amanda

A good friend asked me what was my favorite road...I told him that it was the one I had not ridden. I Hhad a couple of friends in a similar small towne episode.. Only they rode onto main street and caught the tail end of the parade, rode thru waving to everyone :) To answer your question, for me , it would be anywhere i have not been.

If you do come west, I'll list 3 that were most memorable for me:
1) Redwood National Park in northern California. Riding a bike through these magnificent trees back in the 80's and 90's really gave a sense of being right there. It was not crowded at all, which it might be now.
2) Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. The colors of the rock formations are just amazing. Zion and Cedar Breaks National Parks are nearby too.
3) Willamette Valley of western Oregon. This area is just west of the main I-5 freeway. The roads are the best motorcycling roads I have encountered in nearly 50 years of riding. The area is very rural and does not have a lot of traffic. Most people go on the I-5 freeway or main roads to the ocean. The local roads, through towns with names like Lookinglass and Kings Valley, are less traveled and go through scenic farm and forested country.

chrly's comment is good. The first time you travel a great road is always the best.

I think she's a spammer but it is nice to see someone actually went through the trouble of making an OP that has to do with motorcycles.

if you are a real person, Amanda. that is my daughter's name too.

Personally, I wouldn't go through all the states she lists on one ride. Riding is great, but you need to stop and enjoy the places you're going through. Pick a couple of states and have more time to explore them.

Hi KAK. Long time no hear.

BTW, pretty sure amanda is a spammer. Doubt that person will come back to view the thread he or she started.

No 170 miles straight west. Winter, Wi and it definitely lives up to it's name!
