Any suggestions, Stubborn fairing bolts.

The fairing Allen bolt fastening the following 3 :fuel tank cover, upper fairing and side cover
to the frame has on of those rubber retaining nuts fitted in the frame.

This Allen bolt does not loosen, although it turns . I guess the rubber jobby is turning in the frame. Any idea as to how to get the frigging thing out without breaking everything apart.

Thanks

Ever so careful, you are going to take your two fingers under the fairing near the rubber grommet, pull toward you as you load that collapsed ball it makes so it does not pop out. You load that ball up against the frame hole(?) say, this might help stop it from rolling.

Can't stress< The pun you almost have to use a drill to spin the head so the torsion wrinkles the bolt shaft all the way down the threads. So, if no hand turning helps, it's the torque your wrist would never make like the electric motor to torque that puppy right out.

Thanks.

No space between the frame and the fairing to get fingers in. Will it help if I use a rubber oil and a flat screwdriver?

Holdon, Cowboy! OH, have I got one for you. Amazing GOOP glue. Yes, as crazy glue ass I am, it seems to me you just have to walk away from that baby for say a good 12 to 24 hours. For this job, I'd wait more than a day. By that time, your screwdriver stab of that glue would hold it in place.

Couple of washers loaded under the fairing part so you can work that glue to bond to grommet the outer frame hole. I would bet that might just work without all that stress on the part and you. This calls more for patients. As well, you can dab a stab of glue on a metal surface, painted or not. Pinch the dry glue and it comes up as one piece off the work area. So, do not think you'll lose a part damaged by the glue. Once it's on your hands for cleanup, you'll see how it removes itself. Clean the bike down waiting for the glue to setup. Read one of blue's posts. Take the dog for a walk past a BMW. Go for a ride as it sits... Have a beer, turn the TV on, watch wallpaper dry on that, "Homes I hammered to death without a contractor's license."

Okay Sipho-here's what I've done. You take that lower foreman bolt off, front foreman screw out.Pull the foreman away from the keepers under there.Don't overdo pulling or angling it up from the lower part....just keep it in line with the bodywork.Okay, now, gently, get your left hand under the left end where she tabs up onto the cover there(tank bolt).Apply steady but firm outward pressure on the bolt area/tab area, and tip of the tankcover where your bolt's at(Don't pull so hard yer gonna break the bodywork!).Now turn with yer allen. She should have enough friction doing it like that to turn your allen slowly out a little at a time-till you can get yer fingers under there.Good Luck

The battle of the fairing scratches/cracks/memory lost from pulling is now hung in the air fit and finish.

I sort of know those collapsing grommets. It takes just the right snap and they are off. Why mine may look like I want to keep it pristine, I walk.

Not that important you can't do something else but throw time and when you spend time on parts, they scratch and crack.
