Holdon, Cowboy! OH, have I got one for you. Amazing GOOP glue. Yes, as crazy glue ass I am, it seems to me you just have to walk away from that baby for say a good 12 to 24 hours. For this job, I'd wait more than a day. By that time, your screwdriver stab of that glue would hold it in place.
Couple of washers loaded under the fairing part so you can work that glue to bond to grommet the outer frame hole. I would bet that might just work without all that stress on the part and you. This calls more for patients. As well, you can dab a stab of glue on a metal surface, painted or not. Pinch the dry glue and it comes up as one piece off the work area. So, do not think you'll lose a part damaged by the glue. Once it's on your hands for cleanup, you'll see how it removes itself. Clean the bike down waiting for the glue to setup. Read one of blue's posts. Take the dog for a walk past a BMW. Go for a ride as it sits... Have a beer, turn the TV on, watch wallpaper dry on that, "Homes I hammered to death without a contractor's license."
