REAR SPROCKET HELP!!!!
03/17/16 6:12 PM

I recently purchased a 2008 zx14, with a 10" over swingarm . The old owner installed a brand new chain but kept the sprockets at oem ( 17/41) .

I am using this bike only for drag racing and I would like to install a 46 tooth rear sprocket. The only issue is that he kept the axle moved almost all the way forward in adjustment .

I am wondering how much I would have to move the axle forward to make up for the larger rear sprocket . I don't have alot of room left , but I don't not want to waste a brand new chain .

Note ** I do not want to change to from sprocket down to a 16 tooth.

If the axle is all he way forward now, I will wager you won't be able to fit the 46 T in there without a little longer chain. The easy way would be to add a little length to the existing chain. You'd still need a chain tool. I used a chain that was one link longer than OEM with a 45 T sprocket and my stock swing arm. That put the adjusters at the third mark and they were on about the 4th mark with the stock chain and stock sprocket....if tha gives you some idea of what you will need.

According to Gearing Commander

http://www.gearingcommander.com/

going from a 41 to 46, sprocket distance will decrease by .83"
