miles per gallon ?
01/12/14 8:40 AM

Hi All,
My 2012 ZZR1400,will not let me change the KTRC with the throttle closed untill I am stopped,it is not usually a problem, but every time I switch the bike off,I have to change the KTRC to off as that is how I like it,because the default set by Kawasaki is KTRC 1 and I am always setting off with out changing it,and have to stop again to switch it off,is this normal. And does the bike use more petrol with the KTRC on ??

Cheers TTPAUL

That is how KTRC works. You can get the ecu reflashed, that will allow you to turn it off while on the move and when you shutoff the bike it will remain off when you start it up. I doubt KTRC has any effect on the MPG.

There should be no fuel consumption issue or increase.
It will shut your ignition and STPs to reduce power so fuel consumption should in reality be better if your activating TC at any time during a tank full as opposed to letting it spin up.

To get rid of the TC Default you either need to buy the Woolich Racing Tool and DIY your preferred settings or have your ECU flashed to what you need by someone with the tool..

Both can allow you to change settings on the fly and will retain last setting used.

Get on it....

Throttle hand=fuel mileage.INCLUDING....Power mode...you 'may' see an increase riding in Low Power mode...but if you ride like she's in Full mode...you will probably get poorer mileage than if it was in full mode...and manipulating the fuel with throttle.

A few Tickets has me pushing the conserve mode button in the brain: each time out. I used to play out tires at about 3k a round. Now I'm looking at just a hair under 6k, give or take a few hun more miles on the OEM' choice for 2013.

F-Off Mode:
93/2.0 = 46.5
93/1.87* = 51.6
93/2.1 = 44.2
93/2.2 = 42.2

The numbers game goes like so. I let traffic go these days. If I forget I pull off over at the on ramp, toggle to F-Off before I enter the freeway. Slow speed wise, I can toggle the rest, but to hit the magic Off is a lower mph until you find the trigger point or pull over and just be safe about it. F-1 is fine for street work and can still get out of trouble. F-Off is for squirt work when splitting lanes. I kind of like the map changing. The tires are now seasoned for the dirt squirting modes.

This one 93 mile ride, the reach around shelled out even money. So the gallon stopped at 1.87 [if mem serves]... and poured that in the tank. So it boils down to an unscientific mileage test. And I'd say 90% of the time there was hardly any kind of squirting going on but more a steady 65mph. So the 10% says, yeah I know this is a mileage test, but you see that sweeper coming up, bye-bye cars, I'll see you when you pass me back.

I knew I scotched the mileage game. I knew I shoulda played even gallon at the pump. So here is that 1.87 [don't I wish] just hovering under the ring. I usually top off just past the ring so I'm guessing how much pour I needed to match a tank per mile?*

The fuel I consume is measured by the SMG. [Smiles per gallon] Or perhaps [Smoke per gallon]?
